Derek

I'll ride the bench for a 'chip.
Greg
1:58
About Judge, if he really wants to stay with the Yanks, he'll take a deal of 30 million per year or a little north of that.  A discount for him, but still a lot of money.
Derek
1:58
They already offered him that much.
1:59
And I do think the 7/$213.5 offer was pretty reasonable from the Yanks end.
Ed
1:59
So far no complaints about the new pitching coordination right?
Derek
1:59
Not at all.
Ed
1:59
Yankees sleeper prospect that I need to draft before anyone realizes he's good?
Derek
1:59
Sweeney if it isn't too late.
Gern Blanston
2:00
Higgy's defense has been disappointing so far, IMO.
Derek
2:00
Agreed.
He's not a good thrower and I feel like he's struggled blocking pitches so far.
John
2:01
Do the Yankees baby their prospects too much?  The Rangers have Josh Smith in AAA this year post the Gallo trade last year.  No way he would be above AA in the Yankees system.
Derek
2:02
I don't really feel that way. How do you know Smith wouldn't be in Triple-A by now?
Dave
2:02
Is it a bad look for fans to yell "cheaters" whenever the Astros come to the Bronx given what's been revealed in the letter?
Derek
2:03
There was nothing new in the letter that we didn't know since 2020, though. Sure, it's hypocritical but how are you gonna tell fans not to give it to Houston after '17, regardless of what happened before?
No one ever said fans were rational

Who's the first guy traded off the 26 man this season: Gallo, Taillon, Gleyber, other (please name him)?
Derek
2:05
Green, maybe.
I don't think Gallo, Taillon, or Gleyber go anywhere midseason
John
2:05
With Shea Langeliers performing in AAA, does that make Sean Murphy available?
Derek
2:06
Sure, but I also don't think the Yankees add a catcher midseason. Feels like it's difficult to integrate one with a pitching staff midyear, unless the guy is truly a slam dunk.
Eric S.
2:08
If Yanks lose today and I know it is early it will be the 3rd loss to a mediocre O's team - this is what cost them the division in 2018 and last year - they should lose no more to the O's.
Derek
2:08
Certainly would be annoying.
The team is still playing better at least, but yeah, it's early.
John
2:09
Who is going down to AAA when rosters are reduced to 26?
Derek
2:09
Schmidt and either Locastro or Andujar.
Liz

Given how the NFL Draft begins tonight, I have a MLB Draft question.  When can we expect there to be profiles of possible picks for the Yankees?
Derek
2:10
I think we last did that pre-draft in 2020. I don't think we did it last year. We just broke down the picks afterward if I remember right.
I'd expect the same thing this year.
2:11
Given our limited time nowadays, unfortunately pre-draft profiles are one of the things low on our priority list. I know Mike Axisa is doing it in his Patreon if you sub to that, so I'd definitely go there.
2:13
I did not expect Taillon to have to battle against the O's, but here we are.
J
2:13
I know the season's young, but have any of the guys at the Views done any research on whether or not there has been any improvement on balls being called strikes to Aaron Judge?  Specifically the low ones.
Derek
2:14
Not a bad idea, maybe we will do that at some point.
Sorry, I know everything is wishy washy with the blog's content right now, but that's just where things stand.
Rick
2:15
It seemed like Nevin got many baserunners thrown out at the plate.  Has Rojas been an improvement in the early going?
Derek
2:15
Give it time, but so far I don't think there have been any egregious sends to my memory.
2:20
Alright everyone, I'm gonna call it here. Thanks for coming by. Plan is to return to Wednesday at noon next week. See you then.
