If the Sox were to trade Cease, I'd humbly submit the Reds would be better trade partners. Glut of IF and the Sox have quite a lot of need, especially if they part ways with TA.

Eloy to Rangers for something based around Ezequiel Duran?  Rangers get someone they can stick in the DH spot and aren't scared of the financial commitment, while they give up Duran who is surplus on their roster.  Meanwhile, works for the Sox because they can give Duran a full run at SS and see how he does there (he was fine during his time there in 2023), and if he doesn't work out, moving him to a different position shouldn't be too hard overall.

Would the Sox consider starting Montgomery at SS and shifting Anderson to 2b next year or should we really be prepared for Anderson and Sosa? I just don’t see Jerry spending any real money. Attendance way down again tv views down, not the recipe for our first 9 figure signing.

I think if Anderson would come back and play 2B/SS for like one year and $8MM, that would be possible.  More likely I think they add other veteran middle infielders

Sure.  Moncada is essentially on a one-year, $29MM deal if you don't think his '25 option will be picked up.  I don't see a good Yankees match, but around the league there is perhaps a similar player owed similar money

I mentioned earlier that I could kind of see it happening.  But someone commented that with attendance down, this doesn't seem like the environment for it.

I can see both sides of it.  $100MM isn't that much anymore, so for the Sox to sign Teoscar Hernandez or Aaron Nola or something isn't too outlandish.
My guess is that they do not do a $100MM deal though

Another Eloy trade idea: Sending him to the Dodgers for something like Miguel Vargas and Michael Grove?  Dodgers will need a DH and can eat the costs, while White Sox take a gamble on Vargas and Grove after respectively rough years.  (And hey, it's not like trying Vargas at 2B again is that much worse than what the Sox would likely do anyway.)

This feels like maybe too much for the Dodgers to give up, but I don't mind your framework.
One thing with the Dodgers is that they're smart.  So unless they see huge and likely untapped potential in Eloy's performance and health, they would just try to find a DH without giving up someone as interesting as Vargas.

I see the appeal of that matchup.  I guess my issue is with the White Sox going from having one credible MLB starter, to zero.  If you're in full rebuild mode, fine, but otherwise it's hard to let go of Cease.
Side note, a friend came up with a slogan for the White Sox rotation: Cease and Desist

Maybe someone of the caliber of Luis Arraez a year ago, if the Pablo Lopez trade is instructive.  Prospect-wise, two top 100 guys seems a bit much to me.  Rare for teams to part with two of those in one deal.
