He doesn't stream during the season
rube waddell
10:32
Happy for the Dodgers and mad at Kevin Cash at the same time (?!)
Sonny
10:33
Im with Rube
Derek
10:33
Honestly taking Snell out is very defensible. He hasn't gone 6 all year! He did allow a baserunner, Betts was coming up again... Obviously it didn't work out, but like, it's not insane is all I'm saying
Appa Yip Yip
10:33
Let's not forget that the Rays are also really really good this ain't over.
Lzfreak
10:33
How many current managers pull Snell in that situation?
Tony Wolfe
10:33
I'd imagine Cash isn't the only one
10:34
Front office likely had a lot to do with how he made his call there, and other front offices might have similar takes
Depends on the pitcher, too. I could see David Bell being similarly aggressive with someone who isn't Bauer
Kenley Jansen
10:35
“I might get a chance for a save now!!!”
kevinthecomic
10:35
And now your entire season rides on the arm of Aaron Loup....
Tony Wolfe
10:35
what your mouth when you talk about the rays' highest-paid reliever
Dave
10:35
With a bigger lead, maybe they let Snell countinue, but with a 1 run game it's probably the right call given the pitcher.
Roach
10:35
Such as that most starters struggle going through the 3rd time through the order, so that is the optimal time to bring in relievers.

But someone who is all about analytics completely misses that they're a guideline, not an instruction manual.

Even if Snell wasn't striking out the Dodgers with impunity anymore, they weren't making strong contact.

Man... Rays fans want to know if sample size shenanigans with Anderson, or overworked through an extended playoffs?
Paul Sporer
10:35
Wait what, Dave? He's their best pitcher pitching his best, I don't follow what you're saying
S
10:36
When do we see Kershaw warming?
Paul Sporer
10:36
Tomorrow.
Dave Roberts
10:36
“Hey don’t count me out! I can still have Baez pitch the next two innings even after giving up a couple bombs, because ME!”
Jordan
10:36
As a Rays fan, all I can hope for now is Kenley Jansen in a high leverage situation
CJ
10:36
There is a thin line between being Kershaw-ed and Snell-ed
Tony Wolfe
10:36
It isn't just bad luck w/ Anderson — his K% has been wayyyyyyy down in the postseason
Why that is, I'm not sure
10:37
Maybe fatigue has something to do with it, but he only pitched two months of a regular season instead of six, so I kind of doubt it?
Bat
10:37
As a Rays fan...this half inning has seemed like an eternity.
Man Robfred
10:37
If Cash leaves in Snell and the same result happened, then we get a repeat of the hand-wringing we had over Matt Harvey in WS 2015.
ChatzMcGee
10:37
If they don’t come back, I’d just like to give my condolences to Kevin Cash for the press conference he’s going to have to face.
Guest
10:37
remember when they left the dark Knight in against the Royals, 2015
Tony Wolfe
10:37
Don't know about that. That was the ninth inning and Harvey had thrown, what, 20-30 more pitches?
Captain Obvious
10:37
61% win probability to 25% in the span of 2 batters (3 plays).
CJ
10:37
Now the fun starts
Paul Sporer
10:37
Oh you mean for the 9th inning w/over 100 pitches? Yeah, super similar situation
Webs
10:38
If the Dodgers are up by two, do we see Walker come in for the save?
Tony Wolfe
10:38
no
Paul Sporer
10:38
lol no chance
Remaerdbob
10:38
Skip Bayless hated the decision. Maybe some of us should reconsider our opinions.

10:38
Postgame press conference after tough losses are no fun, but Cash will handle it well if the Rays don't come back to win.
Tony Wolfe
10:38
there's trying to win tonight, and then there's totally screwing yourself for a possible game 7
Paul Sporer
10:38
Not just going to change my mind because that clown landed on the right one for once
