why is fairbanks still pitching
Chamaco

Why is Fairbanks still in there?
Dodger Fan

Where's Castillo?

Save the bullpen for tomorrow
Dave Roberts
11:23
Starting to think Matt Beaty might not get a look this series.
Dave
11:23
I find it funnier that you think the move is indefensible.  Maybe it was the wrong call, maybe it was the right call that didn't work, but whatever the case there were plenty of legit reasons to pull him.
Paul Sporer
11:23
Were there, though? Plenty? Name em.
CJ
11:24
Yarborough? I guess Castillo is unavailable
jm

Dodgers may have Betts but the Red Sox have Financial Flexibility, so who's the real winner?
Antonio Lobo
11:24
i forget, who would be credited with the Dodgers W tonight?  Graterol?
bosoxforlife
11:25
For the 4 millionth time I  will say that no amount of money was going to get Mookie to return to Boston. Why, I doubt that we will ever know, but, by reading between the lines, he made it pretty clear he wasn't interested in signing an extension with the Red Sox.
Antonio Lobo
11:25
is it just me?  Am I the only one who forgot that Baez pitched today?
Tony Wolfe
11:25
feels like a long time ago, huh

No Cham they haven’t mentioned his domestic violence- seems like if you pitch well all is forgiven. Shouldn’t be
Paul Sporer
11:25
Whattya gonna do, bring it up every single time someone mentions him? I think it was acknowledged during a convo about guys w/marks on their record for each team earlier. I'm not suggesting that guys get a pass for shitty behavior, but I'm not caveating every mention of him w/"don't forget his DV charge".

Tone it down, Paul. People can disagree with you and not be insane

I would love to know what is going on in Blake Snell's head right now. That's got to be a terrible feeling.
Derek
11:26
It might have been wrong to take Snell out when he did, but unless you thought he was going 9, the Rays weren't winning this game w/ their (lack of) offense. Barring a 9th inning comeback of course

This.

Wood?
ChatzMcGee

I hope it’s Wood.
Chamaco

Pretty sure there is an amount of $ that would have led Mookie to re-sign in Boston, whether they wanted to pay him that is another story.
Greg
11:28
will this title have an asterisk?
Tony Wolfe
11:28
absolutely the hell not
Derek
11:28
  1. Snell has not gone deep into games
  2. Third time through order coming up
  3. Rays bullpen has been fantastic all season
Paul Sporer
11:28
  1. He went more than 73 pitches regularly, including every gm this postseason
  2. Just blindly going "TTO" is meaningless to me. I'm going to take into acct how someone is pitching.
  3. The only viable point, but hardly enough to take him out
Lzfreak
11:28
Victor would be the victor, right?
To be named later
11:28
Gonzalez the pitcher of record?
Antonio Lobo
11:28
actually, I think Gonzalez is in line for the W.  Pitched bottom 5 and full top of 6th
Dodger Fan
11:28
IT WILL NOT

@hillbillyjoel i mean we're here for paul's opinions about stuff. If he feels strongly about them that's cool

It's easy to assume that the Dodgers have this in the bag, but let's not forget that Game 4 looked pretty safe.

I'm as pro-statistics as the rest of them but saying that taking out Snell is the right call based on what the numbers of coming from the full range of outcome over the season while ignoring that Snell was experiencing a 90th percentile outcome this game is a tough argument to make

i'm going to cry this is so amazing

The idea that pitchers should bat because players should do everything is patently absurd and falls apart upon the slightest reflection because position players don't pitch. If players should do everything then the players should not only all bat but rotate through the pitcher position so all nine end up taking the mound, which is an absurd proposition.
Quadrangular

what if Kershaw caught Urias for the 9th, that would be kinda sick
