@Paula so it would only count my best three grades requiring I achieve an A in maths or physics. Thanks
AvatarPaula
4:41
@Muiz, yes, it would be your three best grades

If I apply to A2L eventhough I'm doing gateway year to medicine what happens?
AvatarJo
4:43
Hi @Papay, the A2L application will simply be flagged and you'd receive an email stating that the course you had chosen is ineligible.

Hello, I have not sent off my ucas application just yet so will I have to send off my acess to leeds application before or after I send my ucas application.
Majd

Would doing BTEC applied science subsidiary diploma as a 3rd A level have a disadvantage? I'm also doing A levels Biology and Chemistry and applying for dentistry. I was told this was equivalent to an A level and accepted in universities but just thought I would double check. The entry requirements doesn't ask for specific 3rd A level
AvatarShauni
4:47
@Majd BTEC qualifications are not accepted for Dental Surgery at Leeds, sorry
AvatarJo
4:47
Hi @Guest, it's better to send your UCAS application first and submit your Access to Leeds shortly afterwards as we need to see your UCAS data to process your A2L info.

Around what time should we expect to find out if we received a reduced offer
AvatarShauni
4:47
@Majd - some dental schools will accept it, so do check with the places you have applied!!
Guest

Also, for radiography the standard offer is an abb so if I dont get my predicted grades but get an offer for access to leeds will it matter or do you need your predicted grades to be exact

Hello
4:49
Hello, if I am putting Leeds as insurance, and still had complete all the procedure of Access of Leeds., Will it be helpful if I end up going through clearing?
AvatarPaula
4:49
Hi@Mur, offers can be made any time from now right through until March / April. Some students have already received an offer, it will depend on the course applied to. If you have to attend an interview, you won't hear back until after January usually.

for the A2L personal statement do we need to have a clear introduction and conclusion
AvatarShauni
4:50
@Hello, you will only receive an Access to Leeds offer if you put Leeds as your 1st choice - there is then a module to complete with the Access to Leeds team. It doesn't work if you put Leeds as an insurance!
Majd
4:50
Oh ... I wasn't told this before .. thinking now .. would doing A Level Arabic count towards my application or languages are not accepted either?
AvatarPaula
4:50
Hi@H - no not really. It's just a short paragraph about why you want to study the course at Leeds - it doesn't really need that sort of structure
AvatarShauni
4:51
@Majd, we've been saying to do research and read admissions policies all along - it's really important. The 3rd A level isn't specified so Arabic would be accepted if you're currently studying it and predicted the right grade for it!
Mur
4:51
What’s important to include in the application statement
H
4:51
about how many words should the A2L personal statement be
AvatarJo
4:52
Hi @Guest, an Access to Leeds offer would lower the standard grade offer to BBC. There are obviously no guarantees but f you didn't achieve the grades for the lower offer but have a near miss then it's always possible you could still be offered a place if the admissions team considered it appropriate.
AvatarShauni
4:52
@Mur the A2L statement is all about why specifically you're interested in Leeds! You can talk about RfE and events you've been to
Mussy
4:52
Do you need to attend an interview if applying for Law or would you just get a offer
AvatarPaula
4:52
@H - there's no word count as such - you don't need to write any more that will fit in the space available - just a paragraph or two
AvatarShauni
4:53
@Mussy, it's usually based on your predicted grades and application!
@Mussy it might different at other universities though!
Majd
4:54
I was told the extended diploma that wasn't accepted that's all and Arabic is my language so i could do an external exam for it at the end of the year
Hello
4:54
How many percentage of Access of Leeds, do you guys accept?
Mussy
4:54
Thanks Shauni
AvatarPaula
4:55
@Hello - there is no set number of places for Access to Leeds! Overall about 10% of the total number of new students starting each year come through A2L, but there are no quotas for places
AvatarShauni
4:55
@Majd, you've already submitted your application and if Arabic wasn't included then the admissions tutors won't be aware! I would recommend contacting the dentistry admissions department ASAP and asking them if this is something they could consider: Email: denadmissions@leeds.ac.uk
Telephone: 0113 343 9922
