Hi, is there clearing for dentistry/dental h&t
AvatarShauni
4:31
@Anonymous - not usually as this is a HIGHLY competitive course, but it's always worth riging universities on the day to check if needed. If you're coming to Careerability in Oct Half Term we talk about clearing more
Adam
4:32
Ok thanks

Hi, would I be eligible to Leeds even if I later changed my mind on what course I wanted to do ?
AvatarJo
4:32
Hi @M, the eligibility checks are quite straightforward so the statement is more to expand on any of these for the admissions teams to understand your circumstances
Jennifer
4:32
Thank you
AvatarPaula

Hi@Adam, if you go on the Access to Leeds website, there should be a link in the 'How to submit your application form' section, to an online form - you just then add the document as an attachment. Please email accesstoleeds@leeds.ac.uk if you get stuck
AvatarShauni

@Ruqayyah - you should know which course you're applying to before you submit... if you've applied for multiple courses at Leeds that's fine, you'd be A2L eligible for all of them (apart from Foundation years)

For the A2L personal statement, do you need an interesting introduction and conclusion
Sara
4:33
I was thinking Geography amongst that stressed person in this groupchat but I’ve not sent off my application yet and was worried I wouldn’t get in, I prefer human BA over BSC though
H
4:33
Hi, in the A2L personal statement, should you talk about any work experience or hobbies
AvatarMatthew
4:34
Hi @Mur. No, RfE students are not prioritized for medicine, but they are required to take a certain proportion of their admissions from students who are eligible for schemes like RfE. Plus, being on a scheme like RfE definitely helps to strengthen your application in more general terms.
AvatarShauni
4:34
@Sara, you should go for whatever course you're interested in, don't worry about whether they are oversubscribed! It's all a competitive process, but applying for something you want to do will obviously stand you in good stead!

How competitive is it to get in to a Law course?
AvatarJo
4:34
Hi @H, the statement is really an opportunity to explain why you are interested in the course(s) you have applied for and why you want to study at Leeds, it offers the chance to make your personal statement more specific to the University of Leeds.

How competitive is Law at your university
Mur
4:35
Does being part of RfE guarantee you a place on A2L
AvatarPaula
4:35
Hi @ H for the A2L statement, you don't need to do this like your UCAS personal statement, as admissions staff will have access to this already. It is just a chance to say something specifically about the course at Leeds, or the University of Leeds that has interested you, rather than the subject more generally, as on your personal statement. You don't need to write too much, just a bit about why you want to study at Leeds!
AvatarShauni
4:35
@Mur Yes you are automatically eligible to transfer BUT you must complete the A2L form we emailed to you
Muiz

I study four A-levels, and want to study engineering which has a typical offer of A* A A, so how would an A2L offer change that and would one of my A-level grades not matter at all, so it would choose my best three grades I get? Thanks in advance

Also, will u be doing MMI prep in career ability? Like similar to the real thing
AvatarShauni
4:35
@Anonymous YES! :) see you there?
AvatarJo
4:36
Hi @Mussy as you can imagine all programmes have a lot of applicants but I can assure you that admissions teams are very supportive of Access to Leeds and will give any eligible applicants extra consideration.

Does Geography usually have more offers than places?

What is the pass rate for a2l essay?
AvatarMatthew
4:36
Hi @Mussy. You can usually determine how competitive a course in from the entry requirements. Leeds is a top research-intensive University and law is particularly competitive!!
AvatarShauni
4:36
@Sara all courses usually do, Geography included
Anonymous
4:36
For sureee
cool 1
AvatarJo
4:36
Hi @Anonymous, the pass rate is the university standard of 40%

Thank you for all your help guys, have a good evening and see you in a couple of weeks. Bye guys
AvatarShauni

@Hasssaan bye!!

Thanks Jo and Matthew
AvatarPaula

Hi @Muiz, for an engineering course with A*AA standard grades, the Access to Leeds offer would be AAB (there will be specific subject requirements for the A grade). As offers are based on 3 A Levels, the forth one would not form part of any offer.
Sara
4:38
Should I even go to Leeds as I know that most students are from private schools and I’m from like a poorer background
AvatarShauni
4:38
@Sara - I didn't go to a private school and I went to Leeds!! I met some amazing people from all backgrounds
AvatarJo
4:39
Hi Sara, approx 10 percent of students come through Access to Leeds and none of these will have attended private schools.
