Hi Diya. It depends on your year in school. Students who attend Yale Summer Session must be entering into their final year of high school (or older)

If my brother would like to visit me on weekend can I accommodate him on campus?
AvatarKathy Trputec

You need permission from the Summer Head of Colleges and permission from your roommate for a weekend visitor.

Would you happen to know approximately how many students are in the flatiron coding course? I know you said most classes are 10-12 but I was expecting that one to be a bit larger.

Hello from Canada! I have been added to the waitlist for the 10 day directing program in July. Can anyone tell me what my odds are of gettting off the waitlist and into a spot? What is the process?
Meg Palladino

Hi Gita,  this is tough to predict.  We will contact you if we have a space available.

How intense is the work load for classes? Compared to high school/ AP classes?                                                                               Thank you!
AvatarHannah Parten

Hi Maria! It depends on the course, but you can expect a heavy workload because the course is only 5 weeks long.

Are the course content and materials determined by the school office or the professors?
AvatarKathy Trputec

They are Yale College courses and follow the departmental curriculum.

How heavy is the workload in S462 Global Health Ethnography and S100 Happiness? How many hours studying outside the classroom in average?
Michael Fitzpatrick

The workload for YSS courses varies, but generally you should expect around 100 pages of reading per week, per course in addition to assigned work such as papers or studying for tests.

Hello
I, Vidushi Gupta am a student at the University of arts London studying BA Painting. I wanted to apply for the summer session of Yale to study 'Painting Basics' (ART S130 01) and 'The Philosophy and Cognitive Science of Consciousness' (PHIL S165 01) as I believe that both courses are interrelated and relevant to my practice of abstract art. I realize that the philosophy course is closed to further enrollments. So, I would like to ask if there is any possibility that I can be considered for the 'The Philosophy and Cognitive Science of Consciousness' course.
Meg Palladino

Please fill out an application.  It sounds like you are a good candidate for the courses, but we won't know until we review your application.

Hello! May I know if it's possible that we could have our check-in few days earlier than the date listed on the website?
AvatarKathy Trputec

No, our residences do not open until the Sunday before the session begins. You would have to book a room at the local hotel if you'd like to arrive early.

Is it possible to go on trip at the weekend by ourselves?
Meg Palladino
