Halima

Shauni, I have a issue
AvatarMolly
4:09
@Anony glad you're enjoying the scheme!
AvatarShauni
4:09
@Halima how can we help?
Maariya

Hi

@Zulaikha Riasat. Hmmm, where to start...It really depends exactly what you mean by 'easier'. You'll probably only study one subject at uni which may be easier than doing 3/4 at A-level for example. But you'll be expected to go into a lot more detail and do a lot of work by yourself, which some people can find more challenging...

@Maariya hi!
Jonny
4:10
hows your internship?
nimrah
4:10
also what is the difference between child nursing and adult nursing?
AvatarMolly
4:11
@Jonny great thanks! Getting lots of transferable skills so hopefully that will help massively when I graduate :)
Grace
4:11
Matthew, your session on research was good, why should I go to a Russell Group?
CookieMonster
4:11
How much is accommodation @ leeds
AvatarShauni
4:11
@Nimrah you'll be looking at patients in different age ranges with potentially different needs, but there will be some crossover in the courses. Check the course content sections below:
AvatarMolly
4:12
@CookieMonster it varies from about £95-210 per week depending on the accommodation you live in
Sadeem
4:12
Shauni can you tell me more about zoology? can we have a zoology session please
laraib
4:12
If I did a 3 year MB degree at a different uni to Leeds, could i complete my medicine degree at leeds?
AvatarShauni
4:12
@Sadeem hello! Zoology gives you opportunity to play a part in understanding how animals interact with their environment, how organisms play a part in various ecosystems, and how we can try and avoid damaging the wildlife of the world.
4:13
I can certainly try my best to arrange a zoology session - it will probably be during the summer school
Maariya

I really would like to study dentistry at university, however I am extremely scared that I wont get the grades you need, is there any alternative routes to study dentistry in the UK.
AvatarMolly
4:14
@laraib it really depends on your application still - this is a route that some people go down but it is significantly longer, it would be a graduate medicine programme you'd need to look at.
AvatarMatthew John
4:15
Thanks @Grace! There are so many reasons, but one reason would be because the people teaching in your department will be the world leaders in their field. It will probably help with future job applications too as research intensive unis tend to rank much higher in the league tables...
Zulaikha Riasat
4:15
@Matthew John I understand what you mean, thanks!
AvatarShauni
4:15
@Maariya the current requirements for Dentistry are AAA including Biology and Chemistry - there are also some GCSE requirements. As an RfE student you are automatically eligible to transfer to Access to Leeds which will make you eligible for a lower entry offer of ABB
AvatarMatthew John
4:15
No probs @Zulaikha Riasat
Sana Imran
4:15
Hey,
AvatarMatthew John
4:15
Hi @Sana Imran!
Qurrat Hussain
4:16
Hey, will there be any more upcoming events ?
Ricki Adechi
4:16
Hi I have a question
AvatarHaaroon
4:16
@Ricki - go ahead! :)
AvatarShauni
4:16
@Maariya there's also Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy which could be an option - this is a 3 yr course and the entry requirements are a bit lower (ABB or BBC with Access to Leeds)
Zena
4:16
Do you think making friends and getting to know people without attending Freshers week is difficult?
Ricki Adechi
4:16
If I put all 5 of my choices accept me do I automatically have to go to my first choice option or can I chose between them?
AvatarMatthew John
4:17
Hi @Qurrat Hussain. Yes!! The next lot of events will be during Easter 8th-26th April and will be advertised soon, so keep an eye on your emails.
AvatarHaaroon
4:17
@Ricki - that's not quite how the system works - James will be running a session about this at Get Sert For Uni Part Two in Easter! you have to decline 3 offers and make 1 your firm and 1 your insurance
Taylor
4:18
Hi, if I did a joint honours like history and politics, is it a lot more work and lectures than just a single degree?
AvatarShauni
4:18
@Zena, there are over 38,000 students studying at Leeds, so whilst this sounds scary, just think of all the opportunities to meet people! Whatever uni you go to, just do your best to join in, try new things and societies and I'm sure you'll make new friends easily! Remember everyone will be in the same boat as you :)
