@Kalbir - like I said to Simran, Open Days are the best place to get more specific information about a course if you have had a good look through the uni websites. For each course you look at, I'd start with UCAS for a brief overview, then go to Uni webpages for a better idea of course content and teaching style, and then go to open days for any remaining questions

Is there an advantage of Submitting an application early?

If you’re predicted lower from predicted grades and what you actually get in the real A-Level exams is better would you have to go through clearing for Leeds Uni?

@Simran - we also have something called UCAS Adjustment for when you have done better than expected (we give you all the info in Year 13) as all of these processes change slightly every year but you can have a look online to see how it works :)

Thank you!

Good afternoon, I am stuck between courses I want to take at university.  I was thinking of attending subject taster days but only some universities do this. Do you have any ideas what else I could potentially look at to help me make a decision?
AvatarMolly
4:46
@Maryam - if you're applying to specific courses or universities (Med/Dent/Vet Med or Oxbridge) then you'll have an earlier UCAS deadline than most students, and your school/college will typically ask you to finalise your application a little in advance of the actual deadline just so that they can check it over and add your reference in time to send it off. There's no real advantage in terms of whether or not you'll be given an offer

Would college be able to support for applying to Universities even if taking a gap year?

TEN MINUTE WARNING - we are still online for another 10 minutes if anyone has any last questions :)
AvatarHaaroon

@Zara, a lot of universities offer subject taster days so you should get a sense of what it is like to study each course. The other thing I would recommend is wider reading around each degree subject you are interested in

do look out for the Spring Bank RfE Events programme landing in your inbox next week :)
AvatarMolly
4:48
@Simran - the best way to do this is to do the application along with everyone else this year, but just to tick the box on your UCAS form that means you apply for deferred entry. That way you still get help and support from college without it being too tricky

@Maryam no worries!

Is there anyone I could contact from UOL regarding a degree in Chemistry or Engineering?
AvatarMolly
4:52
@Kalbir - if you attended our Chemistry session in Easter they gave out these contacts there, but you can always contact the admissions departments with specific questions if you have them. Their details are on the uni websites for each course :)

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this question but I'll ask anyways :) Leeds has a 3 year course for dental hygiene and dental therapy at bachelors level, if I do this course could I then do a masters degree in dentistry and become a fully qualified dentist rather than doing the 5 year dentistry course all in one go?
Kalbir SB
4:54
cheers
AvatarMolly
4:54
Hi @Ubaid - can you drop that question into our inbox for me and we'll pass it on to our relevant contacts to get an answer for you?
Simran Bahia
4:55
Is a degree apprenticeship just as worthy as a standard degree?
Ubaid
4:56
@Molly - Okay I'll do that
AvatarMolly
4:56
@Simran - absolutely! They are different in that you will work and get your degree at the same time, but it's the same level of qualification
Kalbir SB
4:57
Will there be any more RFE events? If so, when?
AvatarJames Leslie
4:57
@Kalbir yep, next ones are in the next school holidays
4:58
check your dates for the diary :)
Simran Bahia
4:58
But on the graduation certificate will it differ in terms of gaining a standard Bachelors Degree or An Apprenticeship Degree?
AvatarMolly
4:59
@Simran - it will say your course type as being a degree apprenticeship, but that doesn't have any more or less value than a "normal" degree if you get me?
5:00
They are exactly the same qualification, but a degree apprenticeship gives you the added work experience and often gets you a job in the industry at the end of it!
