tyro here. can someone explain to me why it's better to have, say, half a dozen decent pitchers than 3 outstanding ones? i understand injuries and other mishaps, but is there something else?

Do the cubs have any weak points? Lineup is fire. Rotation is steamy. Bullpen is warmish.

If you really want to nitpick and think negatively, Lackey could come back to earth, Hendricks could fail to continue his positive trends, and the back of the rotation could fail. But even with regression from those guys, they're still incredible.
