I think he's the heavy underdog, but it doesn't hurt them to keep him around to compete at this point. And remember, he's the only guy left who has a year in the system.

I don’t think it was a bad pick at all. I wanted them to go not QB, but we need a QB to compete in the division and this gives us a good option who won’t be bad. Better than Ben was last year. We didn’t have to trade for him either.

Pickett scored the lowest of all the QBs on the draft on his Wonderlic test--a 17.5. Willis scored a 35 which is very strong, and Ridder was just a couple of points behind him. Pickett is the dummy of the bunch, just another reason his pick does not bode well...

Yeah number 20... THERE IS A HUGE REASON THE 1st QB was taken at 20... Bittner... IT'S  a wasted pick... Minkah is mediocre, DuPree a bust, Bush a bust, Claypool weak hands/poor technique... nails in the franchise coffin

Pickett has the talent. He has the arm. He has the anticipation. He throws the best of any QB's off the break. He is dynamite in open space. He elongates plays like Ben used to do. He is accurate.  He is calm under pressure and won many games for Pitt down the stretch. AND he is a LEADER! He has proven it. Great pick!

Credit the Steelers for not panicking?  There were a ton of trades and deals from other teams to move up/down tonight.  They stuck to their guns and got their guy.  Love it or hate it, this is a playoff team that needed a QB and didn't have to reach.  Quite the swan song for Kevin Colbert.

I think the hope is that getting vets healthy solves the issue short-term. And this move frees up draft capital to attack the DL long-term.

Even if Pickett doesn't work out, this is going to be so much fun to watch. Mitch is good enough for the first year. Kenny in year 2, or later in the season if Mitch's campaign goes bad. Let's go!!!

I like the pick. Not a splashy pick but a solid pick. They can get a wide receiver in round two and the defensive lineman in round three.
