A relevant question right now
As an aside, I love when stadiums play the Kill Bill prompt when opposing pitchers are in trouble

Raines said he got the nickname "Rock" in his football-playing days: https://www.mlb.com/video/raines-on-origin-of-nickname-c1220307583

thanks for that reminder, Jeremy

I think that the Tigers are going to ride Skubal a long way, partially because he's great and partially because their rest-of-series plan is going to be very bullpen-heavy

What’s up with Skubal?
Davy Andrews
3:42
He's good? I think that's the answer to your question. he's quite good.
Ben Clemens

Velocity
swinging strike rate
Davy, he threw a 94 mph slider/cutter thing earlier
3:43
the guy is JUICED up
Justin
3:44
Surprisingly low number of strikeouts if hes getting a lot of swinging strikes
Ben Clemens

8 in 58 it looks like, before that last swing. The Astros have been REALLY aggressive and haven't gotten in many deep counts
Davy Andrews
3:44
I'm not surprised. Dude is intense. I loved watching his last start. The F-Yeah that he released when he came off the mound was a thing of beauty.

"Petriello did it" is a lot like "Simpsons did it" but for baseball tweets
also he won an award for writing about the Simpsons. Everything is connected
Davy Andrews

That would make him so happy.

Re: the Astros being really aggressive, yes. But it's not like there are any great alternatives, right? Choosing approaches against someone like Skubal is choosing among bad options.
Ben Clemens
3:47
Completely agree. It's limiting their strikeouts but it's not like it's turning into great results
Davy Andrews
3:47
Also, all things considered, you'd rather make him throw more pitches. I'd rather face chaos than Skubal any day.
Ben Clemens
3:48
It's a really interesting question
You get to swing at more in-zone fastballs that way
but yeah, in exchange, you get more PA's of Skubal, that's no good

Any thoughts on Chaim Bloom, Ben ?
Ben Clemens

I'm curious to see how things turn out. Generally liked his tactics on the Red Sox, and mainly disagreed with the team's strategy, which can always be influenced by ownership. That said, that's kind of a worry with the Cards as well, so....
Davy Andrews

I'm so curious what's on his business card. It must look like a handyman's. "Is your team busted? We can fix it!"

How many baserunners do you think Valdez has left before he gets yanked?
Davy Andrews
3:50
Well, that answers that.

the Bloom hiring and 2026 takeover plan is so weird. Not that a housecleaning and reckoning in STL isn't overdue but you'd think they'd want to get a jump on it

Who is the most underrated player on one of the postseason teams?  (And no, you can't use the usual answer of JRam or Lindor.)

Aaron Judge? (ducks)

Eugenio Suarez
oh, playoff teams

sorry DBacks fans
I still had 'playoff contenders' in my head
I think Kyle Tucker actually

I almost said Ketel Marte!
