Let's appreciate Matt Olson's brilliant batting stance one last time this year (maybe).
Jackson
10:58
Isn’t wOBA just xRBI in a way
Ben Clemens
10:58
Deffffffinitely not. Maybe xRBI + xRuns?
AvatarDan Szymborski
10:59
So, was Nick Anderson quietly warming up for 6 innings?
Ben Clemens
10:59
They 100% showed him in the fourth.
Belli Flop
11:00
He probably sat down for a few innings.
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:00
I like to imagine
hildebeast21
11:00
how on earth is nick anderson a rookie at 29?
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:00
He was out of baseball for awhile after a drunken assault and rehab
11:01
He was like 25 when he joined MLB-affiliated pro ball
R
11:01
In fairness he gave up 3 innings against the ghost hitter, he settled down so he’s ready
Alex
11:01
Have any of you gentlemen also had the pleasure of meeting Marlins Man?
Ben Clemens
11:01
I wrote about him this spring and tried to find a politic way to talk about that.
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:01
I have not.
Belli Flop
11:01
Is Anderson kind of a new version of Kimbrel?  I don't mean by Beard+ or BirdPose+
Ben Clemens
11:01
Let's give him a few years to fail but he's been remarkably good, and he was remarkably good as soon as he started pitching in the majors.
R
11:01
Mark Canha was a solid rule 5 claim if I remember right?
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:01
yup
Belli Flop
11:02
I meant in terms of pitch mix but sure that too
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:02
The A's acquired him after rule 5 and they didn't just sit him at he back of the bench
Josh
11:02
I saw Marlins man coming off of the subway and my uncle yelled out, 'hey, it's Marlins Man'! And he stormed off
Ben Clemens
11:02
That's fair. His curve is a lot sharper but he has the same general shape.
R
11:02
Can we get a Douche+ stat for guys like Anderson?
Audrey Stark
11:02
Not a gentleman, but I did sit near Marlins Man at a postseason game.
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:03
I think the question is: after a person has served his time, went through rehab, and been a model citizen, at what point do you judge them on what they do? It's a tough question and has to be taken case-by-case.
Ben Clemens
11:04
Petriello must be over the moon talking about Anderson on a national broadcast- he's been all over him this year.
hildebeast21
11:04
so nick anderson is ricky vaughan
Matt
11:04
"Let ye without sin cast the first stone."
Ben Clemens
11:04
Kind of... but context matters too.
Lunar verLander
11:04
Anderson's fine, but he's no Colin Poche (another Petriello favorite, if I remember correctly)
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:04
Poche was a ZiPS favorite.
Ben Clemens
11:04
Anderson's fastball is beautiful, there's no debating that.
11:05
Yeah Poche is on the Petriello list too
Basically everyone with the all-backspin four-seamers.
Matt
11:05
Every time I see the name Poche, I think of Poochie.
hildebeast21
11:06
baseball bats to the head are tough to redeem
Ben Clemens
11:06
I've tried to make a joke about him taking a spaceship back to his home planet so many times.
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:06
I think it depends on severity. The dude wasn't seriously hurt.
hildebeast21
11:06
Dan, when ZiPS loves something, is that someone like a son-in-law to you?
AvatarDan Szymborski
11:06
Kinda
Connecting…
