The current recommendation is to get the vaccination even if you had a previous COVID infection. The body may react to the vaccine differently than natural infection providing you with more protection.

I might be missing it, but if someone had documented, symptomatic covid infection and/or positive antibody test, is the best public health decision to get the vaccine anyway or let it go to those who have not had it?
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:27
When you take the vaccine, you will receive information on how to manage symptoms of the vaccine and went to seek testing for Covid since some of the symptoms overlap

There are reports that the 2nd dose of the vaccine potentially causes uncomfortable side effects.  What provisions are we making for staffing, as I expect many will need to stay home, if scheduled?
Einstein Healthcare Network
No it did not seem that comorbidities increased the risk of symptoms after vaccination. People aged less than 55 were more likely to develop symptoms after vaccination and it occurred more frequently after the 2nd dose
12:26
We are inviting staff based on priority. You should be in the group receiving vaccine right after those taking care of COVID-infected patients in the hospital.

Is the risk of complications or reactions to the vaccine higher for those with comorbidities?

The FDA is meeting today to make a decision on emergency use authorizationof the of Moderna

We may receive Moderna vaccine in the future once it receives EUA. The CDC and public health departments are coordinating distribution with hospitals and health systems based on number of staff and ability to store vaccines.

Does the network anticipate receiving Moderna doses?

The vaccine is not effective in treating the COVID-19 infection.

There are no milk products in the vaccine.

I understand that one of the ingredients in the new Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine is bovine milk.  Does this pose a risk for people with severe beef allergies due to Alpha Gal syndrome?
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:25
The COVID-19 vaccine is not mandatory at this time. All staff are encouraged to review the information and sign-up for the vaccine.

will I be forced to take the vaccine ?
Einstein Healthcare Network

If you work in our nursing home you will be contacted outside of the efforts of the ice on healthcare network vaccine task force. CVS will be vaccinating residents and staff who work in nursing homes. We expect that to begin next week

Hello, I have not heard anything about getting scheduled to get the vaccine.  I did complete the survey, I go to nursing homes for consults and I am over 65 years old so I would think I am a priority.  Is there something else to do?
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:24
The prioritization takes into account your professional and personal risk (age and health issues). A 67-year-old nurse with Type II diabetes who works in the ICU would be at the highest level of priority.

can you explain the tier system as far as distribution among staff?Do the immunocompromised staff have it available first that are in certain units like Pre/Post- PACU? Will doctors and nurses be done at the same time?
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:24
There were no immediate side effects during yesterday's vaccine session. All staff have been given information to report any adverse effects or symptoms after vaccination. All staff are also encouraged to sign up for the CDC V-safe program to receive text-based surveys from the CDC on any side effects

How are the folks who have already received vaccines?  Any adverse reactions?
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:23
There have now been for confirmed cases of severe allergic reactions called anaphylaxis. Be reassured that at each vaccine site we are prepared to manage this if it should occur but the likelihood is very low

I have read there may be allergic reactions.  What should we know about this?
Einstein Healthcare Network

The CDC has stated that there is no recommended minimum time from having COVID to getting the vaccine. It is still recommended even if you had COVID to get the vaccine. You should make sure you are out of your quarantine time period before coming in so that you don't inadvertently transmit to others.

For those who recently got COVID - like within the last couple of weeks, is the vaccine recommended at this time?
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:23
I can give you that level of detail but I can tell you that there are approximately 1500 staff members who work in the hospital that signed up for the vaccine

No there is no data on infertility related to the vaccine
Tom Smith
12:22
Is there any data available on the vaccine regarding infertility?
Einstein Healthcare Network
12:21
This is a good question and still being investigated. It is not yet known whether the vaccine protects against asymptomatic infection. We know from the studies that it protects from symptomatic illnesses. The info on asymptomatic infection is still not available. This is why it is important to continue to wear masks and distance even if you're vaccinated

Is it true that persons who receive the vaccine are protected for themselves but can still carry the virus and infect others, even after the receiving the second dose of the vaccine?

If you are an employed homecare nurse you would be prioritized with those who care for outpatients.
