Hi Will, since I took another GRE test few days ago, and the result has come out now. Can I send it  to the school again?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist

Zhihan, yes, you may have these results sent to Penn. Please have them sent to code 2888, if you haven't already.

Hi Will, Another query of mine, I come from an Indian Institute which uses a traditional percentage/class based grading system and not the GPA scale, However I was awarded the highest possible grade/class (First CLass with DIstinction) by the university, There is no direct mapping to convert the percentage scale the US standard 4 point grading scale officially provided by our institute. Thus I have reported the original percentage while applying to UPenn. What effect can this have on my chances?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist

Siddhant, if you put this on your application, it should be fine. We do know that many schools/countries do not use the GPA scale that we use in the US.

Hey Will, hope you're having a good day. You mentioned the number of applicants this year for MSE DS (early decision) is 400. I was just curious to know how many applicants did you have in total last year, and what was the percentage of selection for the early decision in 2018?

AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist

Shaurya, last year we had a total of 1107 applicants. For 2018 we had 202 apps and admitted approximately 12%.

I understand that the SOP is an important part of the application process, who are the professors that gauge the applicant? Are these the same that I mention in the SOP or while filling the Application form?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:33
Siddhant, it depends per program. Often, if you mention a specific professor they may be one of the people to read it, but that is not guaranteed. Each program may handle it differently.
Aishwarya

My last question, Will. Suppose my application is under review and the review ENDS today. Then what if I deliver new materials by email before final decision is informed to me? Would that work?
AvatarWill Fenton, Enrollment Specialist
10:39
Kunal, there is no guarantee that any information sent to us after you have submitted your application, will be reviewed. We consider all applications final upon submission, unless they are missing test scores or Letters of Recommendation. But once we have at least unofficial test scores and the minimum required Letters of Recommendation, it is up to the program if they want to review anything new.
