@guest, as an RfE student you are automatically eligible for Access to Leeds. We will be talking about Access to Leeds during events closer to the time of applying

@Guest - for this webchat or for something else? See above for how to register your attendance at the webchat

How long is the total application process for medicine and what does it consist of?

Hi, I wanted to ask will all courses have an interview process ? for example Accounting and Finance
AvatarMatthew
4:09
Hi @A.A. The short answer is yes, it definitely does. Part of that will be up to you though in terms of how you use your time on the scheme and how you're about to communicate your experiences in your personal statement or at interview.

are we going to get help with our personal statements?
AvatarHaaroon
4:10
@Mariam, no most courses do not have an interview process, this includes Accounting and Finance. You may be asked for an interview if you have non-standard qualifications. But this is very rare
AvatarMatthew
4:10
@Lois S yes, we'll be offering 1-1 personal statement surgeries in September and at October HT.

Hey, does being a part of RfE help with UCAS points?

What do universities look for in a personal statement or application
AvatarMolly
4:11
Hi @Danyal - again, this will be answered in more detail on our Medicine themed events, but at Leeds the application process consists of the BMAT and Multiple Mini Interviews (MMIs), in addition to your UCAS application. Each element of your application is scored (so your GCSEs, your BMAT, your MMIs) and then students are ranked in order to determine who gets an offer. In terms of timescale it really depends, but universities have to have made all their decisions by mid to late May

4:11
Ok thank you
Robert
4:11
Does RfE usually run any transport related events?
AvatarMatthew
4:12
Hi @umayyah. It doesn't help with points, but you can add it to a section of your application and it will enrich your personal statement.

Thank you
umayyah
4:12
thankyou!
AvatarMolly

Hey @Robert, this is certainly something we look into - typically we try and run things that are going to be popular with a wide range of students, so if there is demand we will do our best to accommodate!

Will we still be able to apply for the feb event or are they all fully booked?
Taklima

Do we need to bring anything with us when we attend the events?
AvatarMolly
4:13
@Azeema most are fully booked, there are still spaces on a small number. What were you wanting to attend?

Will there be more dentistry related events in the future?
AvatarMolly
4:14
@Guest yes definitely!
Robert
4:14
Thanks!

4:14
thank you!!

4:14
How to UCAS points work like?
AvatarMatthew
4:14
Hi @Taklima. No, you don't need to bring anything, just come ready to get stuck in!
AvatarHaaroon
4:15
@Guest, universities would usually look for the following in a personal statement such as: Explain the reason for your course choice and how it fits in with future aspirations. Examples of work experience and what you learnt. Show who you are by listing any positions you’ve held, memberships of teams or societies, and interests and hobbies. Keep the statement clear and concise
Taklima
4:15
Oh okay thank you
AvatarMolly
4:16
@Lois UCAS points are like an alternative way of measuring your attainment at A Level/Level 3 qualifications - so instead of receiving an offer for ABB at A Level you would receive an offer for X amount of points

AvatarMolly

Sudais
4:18
Hi, I was wondering whether the summer school is compulsory to attend and if don’t attend is there any consequences?
AvatarHaaroon
4:18
@Oliver, yes there will be Life Skills events coming up that help with writing CVs, cover letters, how to apply for job opportunities. The event will be offered in Easter
AvatarMolly
4:18
@Sudais nope, none of our events on RfE are compulsory! The only requirement is that you attend at least 3 events in Y12 and 5 across the programme
Lois S.
4:18
