Can you put Rfe on you application for university?
AvatarShauni Sanderson

@Alexandra hello! We encourage students to try and get work experience where possible, but where we become aware of opportunities, we'll always advertise them out to you. In previous years, we've been able to send students details about a GP placement scheme, so we'll hopefully be able to let you know about this again this year!

@Anisah, your application will have an advantage because you have participated in the Reach for Excellence programme and you will have plenty of experiences to talk about. If you applied to Leeds Uni, you would automatically be eligible for our Access to Leeds scheme. And if you was successful you would receive an alternative, lower grade offer.

@Becca - for the vast majority of events, if you have booked you will have a place. We just have to limit certain events due to rooms we have booked. So anything you have booked, we are expecting you to attend and you will get your confirmations next week after booking has closed. If you cant make an event or do not get a place we can sometimes provide materials :)

I have heard that if you don’t get into university the first year round for medicine the RFE programme takes you to Bradford and then guarantees you a place next year, is this true?

Hi @Hassan. Yes, you should definitely put it on your uni application!!

Will there be any events that are similar to anatomy lectures in Medicine?
AvatarMolly

Hi @Ivanilsa, your student loan covers both your tuition fees (paid directly to the university) and your maintenance costs (paid directly to you!) and you currently don't pay any of it back until you're earning over £25000 per year. We run plenty of sessions and workshops surrounding student finance, bursaries and scholarships, so don't worry just yet, we'll come to it in due course!
@Zena - we have a really exciting event called Anatomy of the Knee we have ran in the past - you will get lots of hands on experience during the programme in academic sessions

@Matthew John thanks

@Murshal, not exactly true. Clinical Skills at Bradford Uni is another option for students interested in Medicine who may miss the grades or not get in. The top performing students from this course in it's first year have the opportunity to transfer over to medicine at Leeds, but it's worth noting that this is still a VERY competitive process!

Due to religious beliefs, I can’t take out a student loan as it involves interest as far as I am aware? Even if it is a minute percentage. How can I work around this

If I study dentistry, do I gain the Dr title?

4:32
Thanks @matthew john
AvatarShauni Sanderson

@Anon hi! A bachelors is usually a 3 year course or your first degree. Some courses are combined and you can study for 4 years, gaining a Masters. You can apply for a Masters separately after completing your first degree

Hi @K, the Opportunities Fund that was introduced on Saturday will launch after our February Half Term Events, and you'll receive all the information you need about how to apply during the course of that week.

Hi @Anonymous. Don't worry, you're not the only person to ask this question. We do have a page on the University website with loads of information about finance options for Muslim students, so try doing a basic search for that on there. That said, it is quite early to be thinking about student loans and we will do a full session on student finance in our Get Set for Uni Part 3 in Year 13. Hope that helps!
