Will there be any maths or economics sessions running later on in the year?
AvatarMolly

@anonymous, according to our website the University of Leeds is the only integrated Bachelors and Masters Dentistry course in the UK! I'd suggest checking out each University's website for their specific information, as it will vary!

Is this chat classed as one event? So I only need to attend two now?
AvatarShauni Sanderson

@K there are lots of factors to consider and we can't tell you! It's up to you. You need to check course content, league tables and think about the things that are important to you - both campuses are very different! I'd recommend going on the open days to find out more

@Hassan, the deadline for RfE applications was November. The programme has begun and it is too late now to apply and start. The best thing for your friends to do is to apply to the Access to Leeds scheme in Year 13.

@Haroon @Shauni @Molly @Matthew thank you for all the information, this was really helpful. Hope everyone has a great evening and see you all soon

@Louie - yes! these sessions will appear in Easter and Summer School - its not possible for us to run tasters in every subject across every holiday so we have to stagger these across Year 12

Will I get priority for Access you Leeds as I’m on RFE?
AvatarShauni Sanderson
4:38
@K yes, RfE students are automatically eligible to transfer to Access to Leeds. We'll tell you all about it early in Y13

do leeds have links with law firms? as ive heard it can be hard to find a job with a firm after a law degree

How best should i prepare for BMAT?
AvatarShauni Sanderson
4:39
@A hello. We ran a trip to a law firm last year. If there's enough interest in this we could look at doing it again!
AvatarMatthew John

Hi @A. Although we do record your attendance, this is a green event so it's technically an optional event. You need to attend a red, yellow and a blue event to meet your learner agreement in year 12.

What was the induction day colour event?
AvatarHaaroon

@anonymous, practice, practice and practice more! Read the books, research online and try to prepare as much as you can

@K. Also green!

what is the easiest way to find work experience ? I have called some dental practices but no one has said yes ?
AvatarShauni Sanderson
4:41
@A think outside the box on your search for work experience. What sort of skills are useful for law and where could you develop them? You can also go and sit in the gallery in court as a member of the public to observe proceedings
AvatarMolly
4:41
@ALL 3 events is easy to do on the programme. Most students in the past have come along to 6 or 7 in Year 12. We have lots of Year 13 students who have now been on campus 18 times!
K

When do yellow events start? Is there any?
AvatarShauni Sanderson
4:42
@K check the Freshers Week programme! All the events are shown by colour

I’ve been looking at the courses to study Medicine and apparently you need to do a BMAT but I’ve talked to friends who’ve finished their medicine courses at Cambridge and Oxford who have to take the BMAT and they said they didn’t have to do it. Firstly what is a BMAT and how does this work

how do you go about writing a CV for work experience placements?
AvatarMolly
4:43
@anonymous like John the magician said at induction day, you're going to have to keep trying! Medicine and Dentistry admissions tutors know that it's difficult to gain work experience in these areas so what they look for in your application is how you can tailor the experience you have to your course. This might be front of house at a restaurant or volunteering in a care home - it's all about making it relevant!
AvatarShauni Sanderson
4:44
@Sam some universities require BMAT, some require UKCAT. You need to check the course requirements for each. They are both tests that give you the chance to stand out from the crowd and show your potential to succeed on medical and health-related courses.

What is the difference between Rfe and access leeds?

How best to stand out as a dentistry applicant ?
AvatarHaaroon
4:45
@K, this would depend on what happens during Confirmation & Clearing week in August when results are released. If a lot of applicants miss their offers then you do have a chance of getting accepted. It can vary from year to year and course to course
AvatarMolly
4:45
@nimrah, Access to Leeds is specifically for entry to the University of Leeds, and there are two assignments you have to complete in order to pass the scheme. Take a look at their website http://www.leeds.ac.uk/info/128005/applying/33/alternative_admissions/... for more info!

@Anonymous come along to the Medicine and Dentistry Day in Feb half term - we'll be looking at the requirements in lots of detail! Think about gaining work experience (clinical and otherwise) and the skills you need to be a good dentist!
AvatarMatthew John
4:45
Hi @Guest. Ideally a CV should really reflect the specific type of job you're going for. Make sure that you know exactly what the placement will entail and tailor your CV to suit it. I'd start with some research online, or get in touch and ask them more about the placement. It always looks good if you're proactive.

For medicine and Dentistry is it true that the top 200 people automatically gain an interview ? Do RFE students automatically gain an interview
AvatarMolly
4:48
@K we start UCAS for 2020 in your Easter Holidays - please come along to the amazing James' Get Set For Uni Part 2 in April
AvatarShauni Sanderson
4:48
@A it differs at different unis and from year to year. RfE students DO NOT automatically gain an interview. You have to put together a strong application, but hopefully your time on RfE will help towards this!
