Altherr is never going to carry an offer for an ace the way Williams potentially could
The Next Rivero
4:39
Who are your top closers in waiting to become closers by the summer?
Brad Johnson
4:39
It's a pretty thin group at the moment. A lot of really strong sitting closers. The weakest ones have crap behind them
Let me reference some lists...
4:41
Ryan Madson, Koda Glover, Edubray Ramos, A.J. Ramos, Barraclough, Minter, Cishek, Edwards, Norris, Dyson, Ottavino, Hirano, Nate Jones, Reed, Casilla, a Ranger, Bedrosian
that's arranged by division
Vic

Is it possible Tatis Jr is a full time Top 50 MLBer beginning in 2019?
Brad Johnson
4:42
I won't say it's impossible. Probably sub-1%
Moltar
4:42
Now that he's officially a Royal, is Jay worth a late round pick in a 14tm OBP league?
Brad Johnson
4:42
Sure, why not. Super boring volume

4:43
If I target SP early and often, what position(s) can I afford to hold off on - 1B? 3B? OF? Thanks!
Brad Johnson
4:43
There is no position scarcity.
You can ignore positions entirely unless you're in a deep league - then you have to pay attention to make sure your rivals aren't overdrafting something.

Is D Sanatana at $16 a better keeper in an NL only than D Peralta at $9
Brad Johnson
4:43
yea
Rob
4:44
What's a realistic expectation for Hosmer out in San Diego? Nothing close to last year's output I'd expect, right?
Brad Johnson
4:44
I'm guessing something like his 2015 line.
Eloy
4:44
When do I get called up?
Brad Johnson
4:44
after Super 2 cutoff or even September
Erik
4:44
Shouldn't definite non-closers like Miller really be ranked as starters? He's vaguely Rich Hill-ish, isn't he? With better numbers in fewer innings.
Brad Johnson
4:45
That's an interesting thought. I find it more natural to comp him to relievers though since you're still projecting 5 or 7 saves
Bob Villar
4:45
Braun or Lamb this year?
Brad Johnson
4:45
Braun. Close to a push though

Keep 3 of the following in a 14 team dynasty points league: Carlos Gonzalez, Hicks, Yandy Diaz, Felipe Rivero, Doolittle? Thanks!
Brad Johnson
4:46
The closers and... Hicks?
Much as I like Yandy, not him. He has to change too much to become a fantasy asset
Cargo needs to sign with somebody as a starter...
Hicks could lose his job though pretty suddenly

5x5 12 team league ($260 auction) with small bench, how much are you paying for the top tier guys (Trout, Altuve, Arenado, Kershaw, Stanton, etc.)?  Would it be terrible to spend $150 (or more) on 3 elite guys and hae $5/player the rest of the way?
Brad Johnson
4:47
It's an option. I tend to prefer a little more top end depth.
Totally on board with stars and scrubs in general. It's the only strategy these days.
Oddball Herrera

Not a lot of buzz around Ian Happ this offseason.  The guy can hit 30HR, and he has plausible room for improvement in his K rate.  If he leads off add in more SBs and runs.  What's not to like other than the chances Maddon screws around with his PT?
Brad Johnson
4:49
Well, I think you said it. How confident are you that he gets more than 450 PA? Maddon says Baez is getting 600+ which means Zobrist is in the OF crowd most days. How often is the defensively superior Almora going to start in CF?

Interesting that you have two Nats on your closers-in-waiting list. Is that because you view Doolittle as an injury risk? Because I don't see any way he loses his job based on performance.
Brad Johnson
4:49
Yes, recurring shoulder injury
4:50
I love Doolittle. Also worth noting he's a lefty and there's a bias against them as top RP
Doesn't seem to be much of an issue in this case, but it's in the back of my mind.
Glover has the best cutter I've ever seen - Mariano and Jansen included
Madson was just as good as Doolittle last year - and righty

Am I wrong in thinking Nomar Mazara is going to breakout?
