Do you think next year's big free agent pool has any effect on this year's slow offseason?
Steve Adams
4:10
Some, but the impact is probably overstated. There are only a few teams that have a legitimate chance to make a run at Machado or Harper, and the overall class of free agents is good but not AS good as it's being made out to be. There are a lot of stars, but several aren't exactly going to be young, as far as free agents go. Donaldson will be going into his age-33 season. Blackmon into age-32. Etc.
Cardinals

Who's a cheap lefty starter we could add as depth for a rotation with 0 left handed options?
Steve Adams
4:11
I think if the Cards were worried about a lack of LH starters, they'd have signed one instead of Mikolas.
Chris
4:11
What you think. Realmuto and Yelich for JBJ and Vasquez and couple 2nd tier prospects
Steve Adams
4:12
I think you're a very optimistic Red Sox fan.
4:13
If you want that pair... Start with Benintendi and/or Devers.
Leo
4:13
If Hosmer and Moose sign 1 year deals with the Royals can they be given a Qualifying Offer again next year?
Steve Adams
4:13
Nope
CBA stipulates one per year
Er
One per career
Me type good.

Seems like the Brewers "possible trade" might have been Yelich...thoughts?
Steve Adams
4:15
Doubt it. Them making an offer for Yelich isn't the same as them being advanced a ways down the road for something. Not to downplay Mish's report or anything, but I bet the Brewers are one of many teams to have made a formal offer for Yelich.

How strong is the market for nimmo? Overstated or understated?
Steve Adams
4:15
I don't know that there's a huge market for him, necessarily. Seems the Pirates and Mets just both like him.
4:16
I'm sure other teams do as well; point was just that it doesn't appear that clubs are lining up at the door to try to pry Nimmo away.
John
4:16
Ha!  I wouldn't do Benetendi for Yelich and Realmuto!!
Steve Adams
4:16
Just saying what the Marlins will ask for if you try to get both.
4:17
(And, for the record, I'd trade Benintendi straight up for the two of them)

One per career per team?
Steve Adams
4:17
A player can receive a QO once in his career. Period.
David Sedaris
4:17
What is a good fit if Jose Abreu is made available.   Seems like Red Sox if JD signs elsewhere.
Steve Adams
4:18
Abreu has been available for like two years. Rick Hahn has openly stated he'd trade him if presented with a compelling offer. No one has made said offer.
But yes, Red Sox are a good fit. Rockies, too.
Tom
4:19
If the Blue Jays are out of the wild card race, do you think they will deal Donaldson at the deadline?
Steve Adams
4:20
If he's healthy and they're clearly not in contention, yeah. The return doesn't have to be that great to beat a compensatory pick after Competitive Balance Round B.
Kevin
4:21
Brewers have the prospects to get Yelitch?
Steve Adams
4:22
Sure. They've got plenty of high-end outfield and rotation pieces both in the upper minors and on the active roster with loads of control still remaining.
3rd times the charm
4:22
Yu to the cubs 5/125 and reunites with Gimenez?
Steve Adams
4:22
The whole Darvish/Gimenez thing is being so, so wildly overplayed.
4:23
Gimenez signed a minor league deal. He's not even guaranteed to be on the team. There's a possibility he ends up else entirely before Spring Training is over.
ends up somewhere else entirely**
4:24
Plus the Gimenez thing was announced by his former college team like 6 days ago. The Cubs and his agency just didn't confirm it until yesterday.
Ralph C
4:24
Regardless of Gimenez,  does Darvish to the Cubs for 5/125 sound about right?
Steve Adams
4:24
I think he'll top 5/125
4:25
Cubs or Twins seem like the most realistic fits to me. Brewers, too, but every reporter out of Milwaukee is downplaying the possibility of them actually shelling out a market deal for him and instead characterizing them as opportunistic value seekers.
David
4:26
You think cardinals are done dealing?
Steve Adams
4:26
Still think they're going to add another late-inning arm. Suppose they kind of did with the Grichuk trade, but I have a hard time seeing them going into the season with Gregerson as the projected closer.
