Sure. Mets can do anything and they need starting pitching, so that makes sense.

Do Cardinals sign any FA or is their fanbase in for a miserable winter?
Darragh McDonald
4:06
All signs point to a reset year or two. If you're expecting them to be good in '25, you're probably in for a miserable winter. But the plan is to make things better in the long run.

Is JJ Bleday an asset Oakland would part with and what would it take to get him?
Darragh McDonald
4:07
Do you just want him for the matching initials?
Mr. Met
4:07
Could Kyle Tucker be made available this offseason? Do the Mets have the pieces necessary?
Darragh McDonald
4:07
He won't be available, no.

Am I an AI Bot? Is there tangible proof that I exist? If y'all were just going to have a bot be the 4th writer, I feel like Jeff McNeil would have been more believable of a name. Is there tangible proof that I exist? Property tax records or something?
Darragh McDonald
4:08
I can't prove that any of the MLBTR staff really exists.

Billionaires are ruining baseball. Only 3 teams, maybe 4 can afford the top shelf free agents and I get it: that’s the system. But it’s wrong. Sorry, I just had to vent
Darragh McDonald

The Diamondbacks were in the World Series last year. After beating the Dodgers.

My strikeout to walk ratio was worse this year, why would Toronto sign me
Darragh McDonald
4:11
He's still pretty good?

Any idea if the next CBA will create a salary cap? Or are we going to have the Yankees, dodgers and Mets create super teams and everyone has mediocre teams.
Darragh McDonald
4:11
Don't see why the players would agree to a salary cap.
And while it may be frustrating that the top spending teams are doing well this year, it doesn't always work out that way.
4:12
Mets and Yankees were bad last year.
Padre Pete
4:12
You really think we trade Dylan Cease and Luis Arraez less than a year after trading them?
Darragh McDonald
4:13
They traded Soto one year after acquiring him.

Would you be surprised if Tampa challenged for the AL East next season? Is their window further out than that?
Darragh McDonald
4:13
I wouldn't be surprised, no. I think all five AL East teams have a path to winning the division next year. Obviously depends on the offseason moves but there's no reason to count any of them out right now.
Rob Manfred
4:13
Am I really going to let a major league team play in a minor league ballpark for three years?
Darragh McDonald
4:13
Maybe two of them!
4:14
The Rays might be joining the A's in the nomad division.

Most players and fans prefer challenge system vs the automatic ball and strike. That way we keep the umps but improve the calls if they get some wrong. It’s much more entertaining when they throw the replay on the screen. It actually adds excitement to the games I’ve seen with challenges
Darragh McDonald
4:14
Yeah, all signs point to a challenge system as opposed to full robo umps.

Major League had an attendance requirement to relocate.. not a salary requirement...
Darragh McDonald
4:15
Sure, but they were connected. In the movie, they went cheap in order to lower attendance on purpose.

Who's a better fit in DC, Christian Walker or Pete Alonso?  Do the Nats have any chance of signing either?
Darragh McDonald
4:15
Sure, they could do either.
John
4:16
Darragh, what’s it like being the emergency starter?
Darragh McDonald
4:16
It's always the guy who wasn't in the original lineup that gets the game-winning hit, right?

I was wondering who is going to play second base for SF GIANTS next year. Also who are starting pitchers will sign with the Giants
Darragh McDonald
4:17
My guess is they sign Adames to play short and move Fitzgerald to second.
Manfred
4:17
He said that they wouldn’t expand until TB and A’s found stadium deals and they’re close to dotting the i’s and crossing t’s Chicago wants a new stadium. Do you see more teams being held for ransom before we get expansion?
Darragh McDonald
4:17
Yes. Always.
Owners love to hold their teams hostage in order to get taxpayer money. This is one of the main appeals of owning a club.
4:18
The Royals just tried to do it last year as well.
Mike Trout
