They love him and I don't expect they're all that keen to trade him
Bounce back candidates

Do you think Montas and Severino are candidates to get a similar deal to Lynn's 1/10?
Steve Adams
1:51
More guaranteed money for them due to youth and upside. I'd have both around 13-15MM.

Also Lynn's deal was for 11 guaranteed ($10MM salary + $1MM buyout on the 2025 option)

Seriously? How would past players view the modern game today?
Steve Adams
1:53
Most probably hate it. John Smoltz inexplicably gets paid to tell us how much he hates the current game at great length every time he's in the booth, ha.
(Minor soapbox moment, but hey MLB, if you wonder why you struggle to attract new fans, maybe stop paying a bunch of cranky old players to whine about analytics and lament the current state of baseball the whole time they're calling a game)

Can angels swap him for a different bad contract (assuming no trade is waived)?
Steve Adams
1:54
Can't see any way they move that deal

Why was Victor Robles signed? I was sure he would get non tendered.
Steve Adams
1:55
Cheap, good glove, hit well in limited action last year

Safer bet, Chapman and Bellinger to Yanks or Yamamoto and KK to Yanks?
Steve Adams
1:56
I wouldn't call "these specific two players to this specific team" a safe bet, ever

RE: Bieber.  So why wouldn’t Cleveland just hold then?  McKenzies elbow is a question mark.  After that, the rotation is full of very good, yet still, very young pitchers who just completed their rookie year.  Just strictly a money thing?
Steve Adams
1:57
They can still get some value for him, and the $12MMish he's  projected to earn is consequential to them. They "only" got a relief prospect and Delino DeShields Jr. when they traded Kluber. But that relief prospect was Emmanuel Clase.
1:59
I'm just saying I don't think Bieber is going to command a huge haul of top prospects or anything like he might've two years ago. But they can get some meaningful near-MLB help and probably backfill the rotation internally. Bibee, Allen, Williams, McKenzie, Curry, Cantillo ... maybe they get a back-end SP as part of the Bieber return.

My belief that they'll trade him stems from the fact that this front office just hasn't let its top SPs get to free agency.
Kluber, Carrasco, Bauer, Clevinger, etc. etc. -- it's pretty much always a trade scenario

Are rangers kicking tires on Yamamoto
Steve Adams
2:00
They'll be in on all the top free agents, Yamamoto included
I picked them to sign Ohtani, for whatever that's worth (not much, ha)

Been reading the dodgers want Trout. Would it have to be a boatload of prospects to change Arties mind?  Maybe a free beer and hotdog as well?
Steve Adams
2:01
I can't see any scenario where Moreno green-lights that trade
Big Al
2:01
The dodgers need a 3rd baseman Muncy was very average on the d side, who can they target?
Steve Adams
2:03
Still think it'll primarily be Muncy there, though the reservations about his defense are warranted. If you want free agent alternatives, Matt Chapman, Gio Urshela come to mind
Henderson Heights

Thoughts on M’s going after J.D. Martinez and Rhys Hoskins or do they go heavy after Bellinger?
Steve Adams
2:04
Jerry Dipoto hasn't signed a free agent hitter for more than AJ Pollock's $7MM. He's never given even two years to a free agent hitter during his time with the Mariners. Bellinger isn't happening. I doubt Hoskins is. If JDM settles for one year, I guess that's plausible, but I think it's far likelier they just trade for some offensive help, as they typically do

Will the Royals trade Perez this winter or wait until trade deadline, and what can he bring back!
Steve Adams
2:05
Every year Salvador Perez comes up in trade rumors, and every year, we downplay those reports. And then the Royals come out and say "We love Salvy and don't have any intention of trading him." It's a time-honored tradition.

Also, probably a semi-hot take here, but: Salvador Perez does not have positive trade value.

Thoughts on Justin Turner's fit with the Cubs? Seems he could shuffle around 1B/3B/DH as a better option than the other guys they have in that rotation
Steve Adams
2:06
Totally reasonable fit, yeah. But that same logic applies to like 10 other teams as well.
John
2:06
More likely to get extended: Gunnar or Adley? Any this year?
Steve Adams
2:08
Rutschman. Henderson's a Boras guy, and players who want to bet on themselves and test free agency tend to gravitate toward that agency. That's maybe the one legitimate reason I can see for fans disliking Boras -- but even then it's kind of an overstated narrative. Plenty of Boras clients have signed extensions. Bogaerts, Altuve, Strasburg, Carlos Gonzalez, Carlos Gomez, etc. etc.

In general, I think it's less likely that a premier Boras client would sign an extension than it is that a premier Beverly Hills Sports Council guy (Adley) would sign one though

Any chance Rodriguez comes back to Detroit
Steve Adams
2:09
For sure. He obviously likes it there. They need starting pitching. He's good. Staff knows him.

What kind of contract is Gary Sanchez gonna land? 3 years 30 mill?
Steve Adams
2:10
If Gary gets 3/30 we will have been overwhelmingly, wildly light on him. I have him as a one-year guy. I know Darragh McDonald was stumping for him at like 2/15 or something on our Top 50 list, and he was the high guy on Sanchez.

Baseball caps... curve the bill or leave it flat?
Steve Adams

Wear it how you want it. Makes no difference to me.

Garrett Cooper and Whit Merrifield for first and second?  Thoughts?
