Any chance of the Braves making a splash with Bauer to for another Smoltz, Glavin, Maddux duo with Soroka, Fried?
Steve Adams
3:05
At this point, if they sign Bauer, they're pushing one of Ian Anderson, Drew Smyly ($11MM) or Charlie Morton ($15MM) out of the rotation once everyone is healthy.
It would take something like Soroka re-injuring his Achilles to make be buy into the possibility, and even then it'd have to be on a one-year deal (which would cost more than Morton+Smyly combined)

The Reds traded their closer, and my heart shrank 2 sizes that day.  If they trade Sonny it will shrink 5 times...who besides Sonny Gray is probably on the market in Cincy??  Us Grinches have to stick together...

Just look at who is earning money and isn't on a bad/immovable contract. Tucker Barnhart makes the most sense out of who's left. Wade Miley if they eat half the money maybe.
JBJ2021
3:06
Would 2/25 with 3rd year team option with 1m buyout if declined be enough to retain JBJ ?
Steve Adams
3:07
That's about $10MM better than I expected Bradlery to do when the offseason began, so yeah I'd say so
Kike Hernandez
3:07
Do I land a big deal and a starting job?  I play gold glove defense at 12 positions.
Steve Adams
3:07
Nah but some team will make him a super-sub and give him 300+ PAs
3:08
I mean, I guess a non-contender could sign him and use him as an everyday guy, but he's most valuable as a floater and his struggles against RHP probably eliminate his chances of being an everyday guy.

would stanton waive his NTC if there was a talk between NYY and LAA?
Steve Adams
3:08
He might, but the Angels don't want that contract
Will

Eddie Rosario or Joc Pederson to Detroit?
Steve Adams
3:09
Either seems perfectly plausible to me. I think the Tigers will add some veterans this winter, and the outfield is a decent spot for them to do so.
Steven
3:09
Does the Braves non-tendering Duvall mean they will be making a big OF splash?
Steve Adams
3:11
I just don't think the organization is as enamored of him as fans are. Sixteen homers or not, he barely cracked a .300 OBP once again. He's never seemed to have their full trust. And if they tender him at near $5MM and then find out there's no DH, there was no real spot for Ozuna.

Nomar Mazara back to Texas?
Steve Adams
3:12
Think they've seen enough there.
Brewers Bug
3:13
Are the Brewers looking for pitching help or infield help in dealing Hader?
Steve Adams
3:14
They're not looking to deal Hader, they're just listening when people call on him. And they wouldn't be focused on any one position so much as just acquiring the best all-around talent.

This time next year or, if the Brewers are out of it at the deadline this summer, the Hader talk will carry more weight.

Kim Ng says bullpen is the priority.  Melancon?  I think Ng and Jeter know him.
Steve Adams
3:14
Craig Mish reported this morning they want a hard-throwing, power arm to close. That's not Melancon.
3:15
Could still look at Melancon as a setup guy, but I doubt they'd sign him and another notable reliever.

Prediction on Reds Opening Day Closer.. Lorenzen?  Garrett?  Current Free Agent?
Steve Adams
3:15
Amir Garrett.

Freddie Freeman is on a Hall of Fame path, correct?
Steve Adams

I certainly thinks o
think so*

What do you the Cleveland Indians will do this week?
Steve Adams
3:16
Lay some groundwork for trades of Francisco Lindor and, perhaps, Carlos Carrasco as they continue their quest to field the lowest payroll in recent memory
Kosko P Coltrane
3:18
Are the Twins going to make ANY moves to help their rotation?
Steve Adams
3:22
Sorry, Jotcast (chat software) had some kind of server outage or something there
3:23
It's Dec. 8. There have been like 4 notable SP signings and one notable SP trade. Most teams haven't done anything with their rotation yet. The Twins will probably make one notable addition to the starting staff at some point, but they're not going to get reactionary to the White Sox acquiring someone.

Will Musgrove take more to acquire than lynn
Steve Adams
3:26
You're talking two years of Musgrove at a cheaper price point, but Lynn is better. I'd have said yesterday I think Musgrove commands more, but I also would've said I don't think the Sox would give up Dunning for Lynn.

Pirates probably would prefer to diversify the risk and acquire multiple quality pieces, so I expect the packages to look a little different. They acquired pretty low-level talent when they traded Marte last winter, for instance.

Best fit for Theo Epstein next year: Detroit, Baltimore, Seattle, or none of the above?
Steve Adams
3:27
Mets, taking over president of bb ops duties for Sandy?

Do we need to resend questions because of the outage?
