My expectation is that he gets cut, collects the $300K or so that the Jays owe him in termination pay and then signs a minor league deal with a decent base salary and a chance of making the team elsewhere. I don't like him as much as you clearly do, though, as I don't consider him as good as a lot of fourth OFs throughout the league.

Might the Padres sign a big free agent next season? Machado?
Steve Adams
3:50
Part of the reason they signed Hosmer this offseason was because they felt it's a unique opportunity to be able to bring in a premium talent at a prime age.

Put another way: They knew they weren't going to be able to come close to competing with the Yankees, Phillies, Cubs, Red Sox, etc. for Machado a year from now.

Lincecum agreed to a deal with the Rangers (Heyman + Passan)

is there a reasonable chance Lynn resigns with Cards
Steve Adams
3:51
Don't see it, no
South Jersey Steve

If the Phillies add a Jake Arrieta or another decent starter are they in contention for a wild card this season?
Steve Adams
3:53
I'd still have them behind the D-backs, Brewers, Rockies and maybe Mets, but it's not outlandish to think they hang around for awhile, no.

Any chance Greg Holland ends up on the north side of Chicago
Steve Adams
3:54
If he's eventually willing to take something like 2/25, maybe. But the Cubs haven't shown much of an inclination to pay top-of-the-market prices for relievers under the Epstein/Hoyer regime, which is precisely why Wade Davis ended up elsewhere. If they can get him for around a Morrow-level deal, though, maybe a bit more.... yeah, I think it's plausible.

Should Palmeiro get into the HOF?
Steve Adams
3:55
Let's see how his epic 2018 age-53 comeback goes first.

Can I hit?  I mean, realistically, what am I looking at offensively this year?
Steve Adams
3:55
Good power, crap OBP, a fair amount of strikeouts and elite defense.
Luke Perry
3:56
Any chance Clint Frazier wins a NYY OF position?
Steve Adams
3:57
He was diagnosed with a concussion yesterday, so he'll be out awhile, and he's behind Gardner, Hicks, Stanton, Judge and Ellsbury on the depth chart ... I suppose if there are several injuries and he heals up, but I don't see another scenario where he cracks the big league roster this spring, no.

Domingo santana here: am i getting traded ? Or wasting away in milw ?
Steve Adams
3:58
Hey there Domingo. Thanks for joining us. It sure does mean a lot.
3:59
I do think you will be traded. I sure do, yes. Might not be before Opening Day, but the whole OF/1B scene in Milwaukee is a bit too crowded and lacking in terms of obvious players to demote. I don't think Santana makes it past the trade deadline in Milwaukee, unless a serious injury creates a more obvious everyday spot for him again.

Out of Nats, Cubs, Dodgers, Astros, Indians, who is least likely to win their respective division?
Steve Adams
4:01
Cubs or Indians. The Brewers and Twins are both pretty solid clubs, though I wouldn't put either as a favorite in their respective division.
Chris Pine
4:02
Does Kershaw opt out after this season?
Steve Adams
4:02
Barring another back injury (or any serious injury, I suppose) -- yeah. He has, what? 2/65 left? Why wouldn't he?
Domingo Santana
4:03
What hurts my value most? My high K%, high BABIP, or defense? I mean I slugged over .500 and was 3.3 WAR last year? Why is my value low?
Steve Adams
4:04
Teams certainly expect some level of regression with him.

More broadly, though, clubs just don't value bat-first corner OFs much. We just saw Corey Dickerson get DFAed and flipped for a comparably priced 31-year-old reliever coming off a poor year.

CLINT FRAZIER NEEDS TO BE TRADED FOR CHRIS ARCHER......there I said it.
Steve Adams
4:05
Which three to four other players are you giving the Rays in that scenario?
St. Louis Cardinaals
4:05
I feel slighted....."Cubs or Indians. The Brewers and Twins are both pretty solid clubs,"
Steve Adams
4:05
The Cardinals can be in the Central mix as well. But I think the Brewers are better, rotation questions notwithstanding.

What are the 2 worst teams in baseball?
Steve Adams
4:06
Tigers and Marlins probably.

4:07
where do you see Neil walker signing?
Steve Adams
4:07
There just aren't that many teams that need a second baseman at this point. Back to the Brewers makes the most sense, though at this point he may prefer to wait a couple weeks to see if a spring injury gives him another landing spot.

Angels win 90 games. Do I take the over or under?
Steve Adams

Under

Anything interesting gonna happen with the dodgers with all the good available right handed starters or maybe holland to back up kenley?
Steve Adams
4:10
They won't sign one of the starters unless the market totally just falls out and they can get some bargain 1-2 year deal. I'd expect the same with regard to Holland. The roster is crazy deep as it is. I'm sure they'll keep trying to unload Kemp but that seems far-fetched. Likelier he just gets cut before Opening Day.

What do you think of Ohtani’s first outing 🤔
Steve Adams
4:11
I thought that, like any early spring training outing, there was little point in putting much stock in the results. Will be fun to track him this spring though, all the same, but if he finishes with like a 5.00 ERA and a .650 OPS I'm not going to suddenly panic that he's a bust
