Do we make any more large moves?
Steve Adams
3:49
Still have something like $12-16MM to spend -- I'd be surprised if they call it an offseason. An addition for the rotation would be nice
Glenn

Do you see Milwaukee signing a starting pitcher before spring training?
Steve Adams
3:50
Could be in the next week, could be a week into Spring Training. Might be a trade. But they'll add someone before Opening Day
Clark
3:50
If the Cubs sign a starter, what do they do with Smyly?
Steve Adams
3:50
Smyly isn't pitching this season. He had Tommy John surgery last summer. He was signed for the 2019 season, more or less.
Might pitch a bit late in the year, but he's not a factor in their current rotation pursuits.

IS Relamuto my starting catcher in 2018 or no?
Steve Adams
3:51
I think he'll get moved.
Jon

Domingo Santana to the Twins for a pitcher?
Steve Adams
3:52
The Twins need rotation help themselves and have a fairly solid outfield as is. Sure Santana is an upgrade over Kepler, but to the extent that they'd thin out their rotation mix to bring him on board? Nah

Why is Jaime Garcia so underloved? His numbers line up pretty nicely with Cobb and Lynn post-respective injuries, but Garcia is never talked about and you guys projected him for less than half the contract the other two were going to get. Huge value signing opportunity, or am I just over-loving a lefty groundball artist?
Steve Adams
3:53
He's averaged like 115 innings over the past six seasons and has been clobbered by righties over the past two seasons.
Blue Jays

What would a Josh Donaldson extension look like? 5x25?
Steve Adams
3:54
Jays would probably do that. Doubt his agents would.
Jeremy
3:55
Where do you see Hellickson ending up?
Steve Adams
3:56
I wasn't sure he'd get a Major League deal at the start of the offseason and it definitely seems like he could take a minors contract now. Could land on a rebuilding club for $3-5MM or be the final piece of a cobbled-together Orioles rotation, I suppose.
Riley

What's the biggest hole for the Brewers? A top of the rotation pitcher or second base?
Steve Adams
3:57
Rotation seems more pressing in terms of need, but I think they'll add something to both mixes.

They have Villar, Perez and Sogard already, though, so it's not like they're totally devoid of 2B options.

Steve Adams
3:58
Hoskins, Olson, Happ, Mancini in that order. Happ/Olson is closer than Happ/Mancini.

$30mm for arietta is ridiculous. that's Scherzer/Lester money.
Steve Adams
3:59
Teams will pay a higher yearly premium to keep the length of the contract down. That's the whole point of reducing the years -- taking on a greater per-year risk at a shorter length. His camp isn't going to simply drop the years and AAV in a directly proportionate rate.
4:00
Also Lester makes $25MM annually
Joe

Mets got a nice deal with Frazier.
Steve Adams
4:00
This is correct.

Will adding a fifth year get Darvish? If so, the Phillies should pony up!
Steve Adams
4:01
Darvish already has a five-year offer:

https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2018/01/yu-darvish-has-reportedly-recei...

That's weeks old and has never been refuted. If anything, he probably has multiple five-year offers. Going to six would be the necessary step to get it done

Is Brett Phillips considered a building block for the Brewers?
Steve Adams
4:02
Seems more like a trade chip with Braun, Cain and Yelich there.
Why does JDM
4:03
Think he will get such a huge contract when Encarnacion is a similar profiled player that got a 3 year 60m deal?
Steve Adams
4:04
He's four years younger than EE was as a free agent and can fake it in the OF. Age matters.

Steve, how many games do you get to each year?
Steve Adams
4:05
Not as many since moving from Minneapolis to New York about 4 years ago, but I'll likely be moving back to St. Paul this summer, which will make it easier (and cheaper) to go

Best stadium you've been to... Baseball and other sport
Steve Adams
4:06
Go-to answer is always AT&T Park -- right field bleachers, looking out over the ocean ... tough to beat on a nice night
Joe

In past years, Nunez would have been gobbled up by now.
Steve Adams
4:06
In past years, 85% of the unsigned players would've been signed by now
Buddy
4:07
Sorry if I missed the reporting, but does Arrieta also have five year offers on the table?
Steve Adams
4:07
Not that I've seen. Been pretty quiet on Jake
