I'd say more so for Machado. They'll have tons of money, and that's really what it's going to come down to in the end. If they can get some of Kopech, Eloy, etc. in the Majors and get Moncada back and raking like he was prior to hitting the DL, that'll help their cause, of course. Always nice to be able to point to a young core that's performing well.

Am I really this good?
Steve Adams
3:50
I mean, I don't think any SP on the planet is really 1.40 ERA and 14 K/9 good over a full season, but I said this offseason that people who were calling him overrated were off base. I've long been a Cole believer, and I do think he's a legitimate top-of-the-rotation arm. That gives Houston about, roughly, off the top my head, a bazillion of those now.

If say a player like Machado or Harper was hit with a PED suspension today, what would their upcoming contract look like?  Would it scare teams away?
Steve Adams
3:53
Nelson Cruz has made $65MM since his PED suspension, and he was like 8 years older than either of those two when he was popped. I think they'd still be looking at mega-deals, though it'd be naive to say it wouldn't hurt their stock at all.

We've never really seen that situation play out, so I'm not sure how it'd impact their value, honestly. Let's hope it's not something we have to find out -- would be a bummer to see either test positive.

Logan Forsythe to M's for virtually nothing. Free's up payroll in LA for Dodgers to make a move?
Steve Adams
3:53
Sure, I can see that scenario playing out as well.
Brandon Phillips
3:53
I am still available.
Steve Adams
3:54
Also true!
Though I don't think Phillips would be viewed as a definite upgrade. But as a guy they bring in and take a look at in AAA, sure.

I understand that the drug Furosemide is on the banned list but it is not a performing enhancing drug. It helps with inflammation basically. Why would that even be on the list.  Don't you think the players union needs to have the list revised?
Steve Adams
3:55
My limited understanding of it is that it can be used as a masking agent for more clear-cut performance enhancers.
Wilson Phillips

We're also available!
Steve Adams
3:56
You'll probably get signed eventually. I'd hold on for one more day.

Do any of the days of administrative leave count towards Osuna's ultimate suspension?
Steve Adams
3:57
They don't. It's paid administrative leave. His suspension would be an unpaid ban.

How much value does Braun have if the Brewers were to shop him?
Steve Adams
3:57
He has full 10-and-5 rights and basically would only go to the Dodgers, it sounds like. Not much.

The Giants have been on a roller coaster so far this year and managing to stay afloat at .500 w/o Bum+Cueto.  I know it's early but do you see the Giants making any big moves to compete for Wild Card #2?  I mean, who do we even have to trade?
Steve Adams
4:00
I think they're cooked and it would be insane to trade from an already limited farm to try to sneak into a one-game playoff. But I thought they were nuts to act as buyers and legitimate contenders this offseason as well.

They have some names with appeal -- Beede, Chris Shaw, Heliot Ramos, and a lot of midseason upgrades only take mid-range prospects even from bad farm systems.

But they're right up against the luxury tax, they're at BEST the third-best team in that division and likely the fourth-best, and there are several other clubs throughout the NL that are much more viable Wild Card contenders. The Cubs, Cards, Pirates, Mets, Braves, Phillies, Nats, D-backs, Rockies and Dodgers are probably all better teams than the Giants when all is said and done.

Can Harvey salvage his career in Cincy?
Steve Adams
4:01
The track record of guys coming back from thoracic outlet with any semblance of success is next to nonexistent. Tyson Ross is doing his best to add a positive data point to the list though!
I don't think Harvey will ever be a top-tier starter again, though.
Adam
4:02
You don't think the Brewers are better than the Giants??
Steve Adams
4:02
I do!
The list of teams that are better was just so long that I managed to miss someone

If Britton comes back healthy, do you think you'll be traded?
Steve Adams
4:02
Most certainly
Franmil Reyes
4:03
Am I Jabari Blash 2.0?
Steve Adams
4:03
Blash didn't reach the Majors until he was like 26 and did so via the Rule 5 after a team with a crappy farm system opted not to protect him.
4:04
I'd have much more hope for Franmil, though that's also not intended to be any declaration that he's going to be a star. Just that there's more reason for optimism here.
Ollie Brown
4:04
Is there any chance that there's a clause in Cano's deal that allows the team to opt out after a PED suspension? He's got more than half his deal left - (5 years and $120 mil) - as of next year. If no, why aren't teams putting those clauses in?

Trend of replacing guys throwing no-no's... infuriating??
Steve Adams
4:05
Doesn't really upset me. There'd be more combined no-hitters in history of managers had been willing to pull guys who are gassed and eventually lose the no-no.

Are the Reds keeping Garrett in the pen as  their next closer to allow them to trade Ingleis?
Steve Adams
4:06
I'd just keep him in the 'pen because he's been lights out there. I don't think it should impact what they do with Iglesias. If you can use him as a 2-inning shutdown weapon and he proves capable of sustaining that role this year, that's a keeper for them and a nice trade chip if they're so inclined.
