Do other teams have this big issue with blisters and the news just doesn't penetrate into my Canadian igloo?
Steve Adams
3:50
Rich Hill has had like 5 DL stints for blisters in the past year. And the general issue is fairly common throughout the game -- though the Jays do seem to have a few guys who are especially prone to it.

Zimmerman to the Brewers with Detroit eating almost all the money?
Steve Adams
3:51
I'm sure Zimm would approve it, being from Wisconsin, but do the Brewers even consider him much of an upgrade? They very clearly like their internal arms more than most fans and pundits seem to expect.

Braves do not have a single left handed hitter on their bench, if anyone needed Murphy more than anyone else, it was the Braves
Steve Adams
3:52
Sure, though if you claim Murphy he's not going to the bench. They'd probably have made Camargo a super-sub, but I get the general point. Same basically goes for the Cardinals. Greg Garcia was their lone lefty bat on the bench. They got Matt Adams, but why not claim both?

Any chance a reliever makes it to the red sox?
Steve Adams
3:54
I'm sure several will, but the most desirable ones aren't likely. Someone like Jim Johnson should get there if they want a righty specialist, but then you get into the "how much better is he than what we have" territory. And the Sox have luxury tax issues to consider as well.

Acuna and allard for deGrom who says no

Would Cutch be allowed to just walk, if claimed, without compensation? Wouldnt it make sense to give a QO at seasons end to get at least a potential draft pick?
Steve Adams
3:55
I think he's on the fringe of QO territory, but the Giants would also definitively drop themselves under the luxury tax if he went elsewhere, and Baggarly was suggesting last night that they feel an obligation to do right by their vets. I have a hard time seeing them just let him go, though, and I think he's still a solid-enough player that the claiming team will surrender a mildly interesting prospect

You said earlier they may try to trade Martinez due to his lack of fielding ability, and dump Fowler. Martinez I think could get more back, but what about Fowler? What do you see the Cardinals getting for him? Prospects and would they eat a lot of his salary if they do trade him? And do you think they bring Adams back for Next year if he performs the last month or so in his return?
Steve Adams
3:56
I don't see how they'd get anything for Fowler regardless of how much of the deal they ate -- not with the season he's having.

Could Maurer go back to catching in free agency?
Steve Adams
3:57
Mauer moved out from behind the plate because he's had something like a dozen concussions in his life in addition to back surgery, neck injuries, and a reconstructive knee surgery back when he was in his early 20s. He'll be 36 next year. He's never catching again, nor should he given his history of head injuries.

granderson to yankees?
Steve Adams

Makes tons of sense to me but nothing suggesting the Yankees are really looking at OFs yet. Maybe they just figure they're going to have to play a Wild Card game regardless and don't think he's enough of an upgrade in the theoretical event that they get to a full-on series for it to be worth the extra million-plus.

Think Hunter Pence could be useful anywhere?
Steve Adams

Not really

Will Atlanta extend Markakis a QO? What does the outfield look like next year if Markakis is out?
Steve Adams
4:02
I think he'd take it instantly. He's had a strong season, but his overall numbers are really still inflated to an extent by a fluky power binge through the season's first month that he hasn't sustained. And he's a mid-30s corner-only OF, which simply doesn't get paid in free agency anymore. Without the QO, I think he's looking at something like a solid two-year deal with a contending team -- one year at $18MM is enough for him to happily forgo that possibility.

Are players on the dl as of September 1 available for the playoffs?
Steve Adams
4:02
Need to be in the organization, not necessarily healthy at the time.
MLB wouldn't declare Kris Bryant playoff ineligible for him being on the DL on Sept. 1, for instance.
Allen and Miller
4:02
Both guys get QO's and signed?
Steve Adams
4:03
I don't think either gets a QO -- certainly not Allen. Maybe Miller, but his control has been poor and he's been hammered by injuries this year.
Bernie Langosch
4:03
Do you think Cardinals DFA Fowler?
Steve Adams
4:03
I don't. They put him on the 60-day DL to make room for Adams, so he's already off the 40-man.
He'll be shopped this winter.
Jeff
4:04
When do we see Casey Mize?
Steve Adams
4:04
Next summer at the absolute earliest but I'd forecast a bit more conservatively and say 2020. I don't see a need to rush him.

Other than Vlad, your top five rookies next year.
Steve Adams
4:05
Eloy, Senzel, Victor Robles, Kopech (if he's still eligible)... Francisco Mejia maybe. There are tons of intriguing guys right on the cusp of the Majors.

Who gets moved off the 40 man to make room for Kopech?
Steve Adams
4:06
They had an open spot. His addition has already been announced.
4:07
They placed Leury on the 10-day DL, recalled LaMarre, selected Kopech and optioned Danish
Jason
4:07
Do you think Vlad Jr. or Eloy get September callups?
Steve Adams
4:07
I don't see why they wouldn't. Eloy might even be up a bit before that. Doubt they wait much longer.

No Tatis in the top 5 rookies next year?
