I've had a bunch of Vargas questions and the answer is I don't really know.

He's not really considered a good defender and didn't hit when given the chance.
It was a very small sample, so plenty of time for him to get back on track, but he has competition.

We don't know the specifics but it's based on his health in 2023. Since he was injured the whole year, it's almost certainly down the low end. We just haven't been able to confirm that.

Extension for Smith makes plenty of sense but they've kept the long-term books pretty clean, probably to keep Ohtani on the table.
Only Betts and Freeman are signed beyond 2025.

First of all, he has a no-trade clause.
So, it depends what he wants.

Secondly, the Angels have to actually accept that they are rebuilding, which isn't a given.
There's also the PR aspect. Even if they do rebuild, do they want to get rid of both their superstars in quick succession?
