An interview etiquette question: So, you have it on good authority that Archer is hiding an injury. Do you ask him about it in an interview? Do you produce tape and say "see, last year you were throwing like that, this year you are throwing like this"? How do you balance getting the information you are looking for versus increasing the chance the interviewee leaves (or punches you)?

Why isn't it as easy as Shoemaker is making it look to all of a sudden be relevant? Why can't any struggling pitcher just take his best pitch and use it 40% of the time?

It's a risky move. It's like CC giving up the fourseamer for a cutter. It's a desperation move that old pitchers usually go to. Splitters may or may not be an injurious pitch, but we haven't seen many (any) pitchers throw it 40% of the time for a long time.

I love going to games because it's so easy to get lost in the action and crowd noise. At home, I'm watching on TV with my laptop open to match-up stats and spray charts and other bs. At times it's easy to dissect the bird and lose the song. Going to the games brings the song back and turns me into a little kid. It's the best.
