Who had O. Cruz getting a HR and two BB before his first K? Good omens from that guy so far
Ben Clemens
6:15
don't check me on this one, I think that's more walks than he had last year
Justin
6:15
True, Tony Kemp is a short king. I forgot

Jays also only have one lefty in Tim Mayza so they probably don't want to burn him this early

I’m really enjoying Opening Day! Since it’s Opening Day, the game is on any service that has live TV in Cincinnati. I’m enjoying it while I can because it one of the only games I’ll get to watch this year… Opening Day each year is some of the few Reds games I’ve seen the last few years… I wish I could watch my favorite team without paying for cable! I wanna see Hunter Greene laser beams. :/
Ben Clemens

is it true that opening day is a school holiday in Cincy? They mentioned that on the Giants broadcast today

re: swanson - he had reverse splits last season, 39.4% k rate vs. L, 27.8 vs. R

I didn't realize Stubby Clapp's full name was Stubby Clapp III but that's the best baseball fact I'll learn today

To be fair, Cruz struck out and got strike three called a ball on one of his walks! Still an impressive start though!
Ben Clemens
6:18
The odds of this aren't particularly high, but I think there's some chance Oneil Cruz has never seen a pickoff throw before. He acted shocked and confused when it came over and almost got picked off with a short lead

Who’s more likely to be traded at the deadline this year, Ohtani, Brian Reynolds, or Corbin Burnes?
Leo Morgenstern
6:18
I think it's gotta be Reynolds

There have already been games completed in 2:14 and 2:21. Does anyone know how many games were played in less tha 2:30 last year?
Kyle Kishimoto
6:18
i can stathead that real quick
Appa Yip Yip
6:19
Jays and Cards doing their part to bump that game time back over 3 hours
Ben Clemens
6:19
If it's 5-5 I'll allow it
Kyle Kishimoto
6:19
91 games completed in under 2:30, but that includes a few suspended games

Ben Clemens

Did the Eagles go for two and miss it?
That's a wild score
Kyle Kishimoto
6:20
yeah, my article this morning hyping up that matchup is really looking sketch now
Leo Morgenstern
6:21
It's still a great game, just for different reasons!

Anyone watching the Mets-Marlins have immediate thoughts re the Jazz-CF experiment?
Ben Clemens
6:21
Haven't seen much action from him (I've been hopping around a bit) but he looked ok, too soon to tell

All right, time for a challenge. Name at least 7 players currently on the A’s roster.
Kyle Kishimoto
6:21
i can name all of them but i also live 5 miles from their stadium
Ben Clemens
6:21
Let's go: Ruiz, Fujinami, Kemp, Laureano, Langeliers, Kaprelian
6:22
oops that's only six, throw in nick allen and seth brown to atone
Leo Morgenstern
6:23
Tried to do seven more Ben didn't get but I maxed out at six: Diaz, Muller, May, Aguilar, Familia, Peterson

I guess it depends on your definition of school holiday. School still goes on as normal, but it is generally accepted that a lot of parents will pull their kids out of school that day to either go to the game or partake in some kind of festivities. A lot of teachers will also put the game on in the classroom for the kids that are still in school. So… it’s kinda a school holiday? It is definitely a citywide holiday/celebration though!
Ben Clemens
6:22
That is awesome. Makes me want to go to a Cincy bar for opening day sometime
Vin
6:23
Does "former Braves prospect" count?
Ben Clemens
6:23
Yes but only for one, otherwise that's all seven right there

Chisholm couldn't cut off Nimmo's double but it was hard to see if he got a decent jump.
Ben Clemens
6:23
I missed that one, I'll try to catch some replays though, I'm really curious to see how this turns out
B'ryce Szymbobski

I'm not gonna lie, I'm running on fumes right now. This much baseball has been a shock to the system
Ben Clemens
6:24
It's dense, too. The pitch clock really does cut down on dead time

What is this Phillies lineup? I know Harper and Hoskins are out, but depth is important. The lineup literally goes 3 deep.
