Not too hopeful about anything from Diaz. Yepez is a cool target, but he needs to wade through some bigger names.

What SPs do you see breaking out this season? I'm high on Jordan Montgomery and Means
Brad Johnson
12:52
This could be an article with dozens of names. Maybe I'll write it for Wednesday (Front Office subscribers get a weekly article). A few names that jump immediately to mind are Joe Ryan, Aaron Ashby, Josiah Gray, Triston McKenzie, and Drew Rasmussen.
Those also happen to be guys who don't need to improve to breakout - they've already flashed the necessary traits.

Need to pick my last 3 keepers. Keep 15: roto, 8x8. Down to a cheap Ashby/R Suarez and expensive Cron/Darvish. Which 3 are you keeping/which guy you cutting?
Brad Johnson
12:53
Without knowing the 8x8, I probably cut Cron.
Definitely need to keep Ashby and Suarez. They could be huge by this time next season.
Roto
12:53
In a 5x5 roto, in what order do you rank 3B eligible Wendle, Moustakas, Bohm, Flores, Longoria and Brian Anderson?
Brad Johnson
12:53
Moose, Bohm, Longoria, Anderson, Wendle, Flores
12:54
The first four can be justified in any order, Flores is definitely last as a wrong-side platoon guy
Hard to Know
12:54
How do you rank a guy like Nick Martinez?
Brad Johnson
12:55
Good question. My usual answer is to figure out which of my contacts is visiting the relevant camp at the start of Spring Training
For now, he's a dart throw around pick 350-450 for me

Almost embarrassed to ask, but as a deep flyer at SS do you like T Walls or Perdomo more? Hoping for 2022 production but keep either in 2023+ if they somehow end up working out if that matters at all..
Brad Johnson
12:56
I think Perdomo has a brighter future, but his body needs to catch up to his hitting profile
12:57
Walls seems like he could offer better instant gratification. And I do like him quite a bit. Really solid irl type who might turn into something for us too.

In a one Catchers  5x5 league, are there any Catchers you would take before about round 18? I agree with your article on waitinh for catchers. My numbers say there inflation is between $6 and $8.
Brad Johnson
12:58
I think you can justify going early on Salvy, Smith, Realmuto, and Varsho (for the SBs). Otherwise, just endgame it.

Think Kyle Wright is a sleeper in deeper leagues? He looked good in the playoffs in a small sample size in high pressure situations.
Brad Johnson
12:59
He's not on my personal radar, but that's also how post-hype guys work. I think he's a reliever and not necessarily a late-innings one.
Pete Walker
12:59
What sort of fantasy outlook do you see for Eric Haase in a dynasty?
Brad Johnson
1:00
It's not looking good imo. There's a good chance 2021 will be the highlight of his career.
He's already 29. Besides the C eligibility and pop, he doesn't have much going for him.
1:01
Kind of a poor man's Adam Duvall at the plate. If he was an adequate catcher, that would be great. But as a defender, he's closer to emergency C territory.
So he's going to lose that eligibility before long or else be a 3-days-or-fewer per week guy.
Stats
1:02
Preferred stat in your fantasy leagues...AVG vs. OBP? W vs. QS?
Brad Johnson
1:02
AVG and W
1:03
For AVG, it's a dumb irl stat, but it's a challenging stat for fantasy purposes. Whereas HR and OBP usually are highly correlated, HR and AVG aren't super related. So the symphony of roster management is harder.
I don't get the love for QS as a W alternative.
Just use IP.
1:04
I like Ws because you know there will be 2,430 of them, less cancelled games.
The supply of QS keeps shrinking and shrinking
Many good SP don't even reach 6 IP in more than a fifth of their starts
1:05
With Ws, maybe the SP aren't getting them, but at least you can make some managerial choices to chase them.
Ro
1:05
Which projection system do you prefer? ZIPS, steamer, the BAT?
Brad Johnson
1:06
Honestly, they're all pretty similar. You're not going wrong with any. I believe THE BATX has been shown to be more accurate with hitters in recent years. It's also the most-used and it can pay to have a system others in your league aren't using.

Do people sleep on Jorge Polanco in fantasy? Seems like he rarely is talked about as a top 2b/as éligible play
Brad Johnson
1:06
Yea, he deserves more press. Especially at second base which is such a thin position.
Among SS, he's fairly ordinary
