Fantasy Baseball Chat With Brad Johnson

Siri is quite physically gifted, but his approach makes Javier Baez look patient. Also, when you hear scouts talk about guys with bad makeup, Siri is one of the first three listed.
Sandoval

Is the Patrick Sandoval hype real?
Brad Johnson
1:51
I'm letting others take that gamble. I see the same positive traits as everyone else, but his ADP is basically stating that he WILL actualize. He's not actually a better play than, say, Brady Singer much much much later.
Drew Rasmussen's another guy I find myself preferring at a later ADP.

New to the fanasty baseball leagues always a football guy is there a strategy such as how many pitchers I should get in first 10 rounds , 12 team head to headphones
Brad Johnson
1:53
For H2H, it pays to focus on certain categories. I like to pile up ace pitching, but that's an advanced play. For you, since you're new, I'd focus on the offensive categories. However, if aces are frequently the top players by ADP on the board, you can switch to dominating pitching.

Does Michael Stefanic get a chance with the Angels to the point of fantasy relevance? Same question for Jose Miranda and the Twins.
Brad Johnson
1:54
I'd love to see a bunch of Stefanic. He's on my list for the first episode of Peripheral Prospects this year. I'm not under the impression they want to go that route, but I really have no info on the Angels thinking.
1:55
Miranda, I think, has a cleaner path to regular play.
He's still kind of their 10th man though.

Who is the better 2022 shortstop for fantasy - Gabriel Arias or Jeremy Pena?
Brad Johnson
1:56
Pena, easily. I don't really foresee the Guardians using Arias much this year. Sure, he's ready, but they probably want to buff trade value on Rosario and Gimenez this season before turning to the Arias/Freeman/etc wave of MI in their system.

I got Tatis Jr at 108....too early?
Brad Johnson
1:57
If you have IL, no. If you don't.... eh, probably.

10 team keeper league, just traded rights to Vladito (keeper round 22) and my 7th rd(1st ovr) for Kyle Tucker(keeper round 22) Walker Buehler (keeper round 21) and tenth rd(last pick of round ten)
Brad Johnson
1:58
Sounds like your name is right! A trade to make a trade :)
1:59
I'd want Vladito personally, but it's a perfectly fine deal. I just prefer to aggregate value whenever possible. Vladito's going to be in the Top 1 conversation for a long time, I suspect.
ok, I can't stay on too long today so we're going to wrap up in the next 10 minutes or so.

Confidence in a Yelich bounce back season?
Brad Johnson
1:59
I'm not expecting much bounce tbh, but the median projection still very much plays at his current ADP.

Is Luzardo worth a flyer?
Brad Johnson
2:00
Absolutely. Having a wild spring and the Marlins are well-regarded for their work with pitchers.
Lynn
2:00
Thoughts on me as a fantasy #1 this year?
Brad Johnson
2:01
Yea, I have a lot of Lynn shares. Of the really good pitchers, he's one of the most affordable.
I get why, what he does doesn't pass the eye test and looks bad on a stat sheet.
It's also very uncomplicated and he's done it year after year.
Injury is the only concern since he's on the old side.

DeGrom is not worth the #1 overall pick in the draft but Vlad Guerrero Jr. is…if we’re talking regular snake format and H2H. I’m taking Vlad over Shohei with my first pick without hesitation and I will win my league.

Keeper League
2:02
In a keeper league, 3 years, is Tatis worth the #1 pick still?
Brad Johnson
2:03
I don't know about #1. I'd still go for some of the other big names like Soto and Guerrero who should be huge those 3 years but don't immediately sabotage your 2022.
I think Acuna probably is my #1 actually. If it's not OBP.
Fine.. its Ted

what are some of your more reliable places to do mock drafts at? espn? cbs sports? yahoo? UNKNOWN SNEAKY SPOT??
Brad Johnson
2:05
Honestly, I'm a little out of touch with the public mock draft scene.
If you write about fantasy baseball full time, you get to do all your mocks with other industry types.

Pete Alonso or Austin Riley? Keeper league
Brad Johnson
2:06
That's tough. I really believe in Riley, but Alonso is less risky for similar overall output.

NL 5X5 Jazz Chisholm or Austin Riley, both at $5
Brad Johnson

Gimme Riley. The only caveat is if you're hurting for SBs.

Do you see MJ Melendez cracking the MLB roster this year and making a fantasy impact?
