I dunno if he counts as out of nowhere, but I'd say Julio Rodriguez is your best bet for a 30/30 pace ROS after pick 150.
12:31
Harrison Bader has the right blend of talent. Would need yet another gear to get to that much power

Is Joey Wiemer on your radar?
Brad Johnson
12:31
Yes!
With the caveat that he's kind of weird
12:32
Fantasy prospectors like him a LOT more than actual scouts
He's one of those guys with big scouting grades who might get stuck in a Quad-A role for awhile.

Do you see Cody Bellinger being a .280 hitter with 40 plus pwer agaian?
Brad Johnson
12:33
No, I don't.
12:34
More like .240 and 24-28 HR imo. I do think he's better than his current production.
12:35
His actual game power isn't all that impressive. He needs the humidors to start working in his favor
12:36
which they should in the summer months - though not at Chavez Ravine.
The whole humidor thing was something we didn't adequately incorporate into our prep.

Which 2 of these 3 pitchers would you have active this week: Aaron Ashby, Daniel Bard, Marc Melancon? NL-only, 5x5 Roto with SV+HD in place of SV. I have Robert Suarez active to help with HD.
Brad Johnson
12:37
Probably Bard and Melancon
Ashby's only pitching about once per week and went 4 innings yesterday. There's a chance he doesn't pitch at all this week.

In case you didn't get the message that I sent previously Brad (and, BTW, thanks for doing this), in a AL-only 5x5 roto league, with everything else being equal, would you prefer Carlos Santana or Harold Ramirez as your 1B going forward?  In my auction, I got Santana; but last week he went on the IL.  So, from the free agent pool, I picked up Harold Ramirez.  Now, Santana is off the IL, and I have to drop one … my reserve team is full.  So, which do you think will be more productive for the remainder of the year?
Brad Johnson
12:38
I don't think I did get the message so good call on re-sending it!
12:40
That's a tough one. If it was OBP, I'd definitely go Santana. Since his AVG is so bad these days, I might prefer the part-timer with a more-rounded skill set.
Ramirez is Yandy Diaz-ish so he plays best against fly ball pitchers who might help him to get under the ball.
12:41
Of course, Santana plays more and has a regular mid-lineup role.
Don
12:41
What is your assessment of William Contreras (C/ATL) and MacKenzie Gore's (P/SD) playing time going forward?
Brad Johnson
12:43
Contreras has lucked into some temporary DH starts. While d'Arnaud is starting most games at C and even has a good lineup role, his underlying metrics depict a veteran hanging on by a thread.
I think Contreras could nudge him aside by midseason, especially if he keeps hitting while the DH reps are available.

What is the status on Matt Weiters (sp?), the catcher on the Orioles and Cardinals? Is he on any team?
Brad Johnson
12:44
Wieters is a strong believer in i before e
12:45
As far as I'm aware, he's informally retired.
Kevin
12:45
What player do you get asked about the most on these chats?
Brad Johnson
12:46
This particular chat, it seems to be Kelenic. In general, it's whoever's the hot article of the day
Which I guess is kinda Ben Gamel this week?
GBS42
12:47
This would have seemed weird to ask coming into the season, but Ben Gamel or Tyler O'Neill this week?  Similarly, Jose Iglesias or Eduardo Escobar? Standard 5x5 Roto offensive categories.
Brad Johnson
12:47
O'Neill and Iglesias gives you broad coverage of the 5 categories
12:48
I don't think anything is going on with O'Neill besides being poorly adapted to the humidor change.
We've reached an inflection point in weather patterns where the humidors should start to help the ball fly farther.
Don
12:49
The Mariners demoted Kelenic. The Tigers demoted Baddoo. Is Torkelson next?
Don
12:49
Will Kelenic ever be a star or a dud?
Brad Johnson
12:49
I guess I double-counted Don when I said Kelenic was most-asked-about.
Tork probably is next, yes.
12:50
Not that the Tigers have much to replace him with. I expect they'll want to get Baddoo going first.
12:51
At some point, the greed math gets too tempting. Tork's stats are BAD. He probably could use a confidence boost. And ~15 days in the minors nets the Tigers his age 28 season. Ditto Baddoo btw.
