Fantasy Baseball Chat With Brad Johnson

I LOVE Cowser, especially for the Orioles. They're missing a credible leadoff man, and that's exactly his best role.
I'd argue they were borderline passive with promoting Stowers, Henderson, and Hall, but I do think they have cause to move Cowser quickly.
Ashby or Baz
12:42
Whom has the higher upside?
Brad Johnson
12:43
That's a tough question for me to answer. I love Ashby's profile. I think most scouts would tell you Baz, but the reasoning would amount to an updated version of The Face. His profile looks more like other elite SP.
12:44
They're both massive upside guys though.
Keeper conundrum
12:44
Keep one of… Carroll, Rutschman, Story, Olson, Gunnar?? 8-9yr window for future fantasy league before reset
Brad Johnson
12:44
Keep 1! Nuts...
12:46
I think I'd do Carroll with Gunnar second place.
Waldichuk
12:47
Does he stick with the team rest of year?
Brad Johnson
12:47
No reason he shouldn't besides innings management stuff that they haven't announced.

I have to drop one of Jake Cronenworth, Nico Hoerner and Gavin Lux in an 8 team league. Which one?
Brad Johnson
12:48
I think I'd do Lux. Cronenworth a close second.
12:49
Weird to realize I strongly prefer Hoerner. But it also depends on your stat needs. Croney has the most power and is good for OBP. Hoerner steals the most and hits for the best AVG. Lux does a tiny bit of everything.
Deep In the Rebuild
12:49
Thanks! It's a 20-team league with 28 man MLB roster and 20 man MiLB squads. Very willing to wait, since my best prospects are JUST starting to trickle onto the MLB roster
Brad Johnson
12:49
In that case, go grab Holliday or Jones!
Cody Morris
12:49
Do you think he breaks camp next year in the rotation?
Brad Johnson
12:49
I'm not sure tbh
12:50
His minor league workload was so light this year
But he'll also be 26 so it's time to start putting up. Let's see how he finishes the year first.
Tony

Starting Hunter Brown over Heaney, Logan Webb, am I crazy ?
Brad Johnson
12:51
I don't know the matchups offhand, but I'd lean, yes, crazy.
Or maybe it's a bold strategy
Smitty
12:51
Thoughts on Nathaniel Lowe in 2023?  Are you buying shares?
Brad Johnson
12:51
I tend to take the paths of least resistance and my impression is Lowe will be a tad too hyped for my blood.
12:52
Blood? Taste. Too hyped for my taste.
I do like the changes he's made to his plate approach, though such adjustments can be prone to counter-adjustment.
Kevin
12:54
Who of this quartet would you drop in a keeper league: Kopech, Hunter Greene, Eury Perez or Taj Bradley?
Brad Johnson
12:55
That's going to depend on some additional factors. Personally, I think Perez and Bradley are better than Greene, but it could take a bit before they're fantasy contributors. Perez especially is at a period where he's a high injury risk and probably 1+ years away still.
JD
12:56
Who would be your ‘23 first overall pick in a 6x6 OPS roto league
Brad Johnson
12:57
This is boring, but I lean Trea Turner, assuming the Dodgers re-sign him.
Ohtani is plausible if it's daily moves.
12:58
Betts, JoRam, maybe Julio Rodriguez. Can't forget Ronald Acuna.
12:59
I feel like you're trying to get me to say Judge... and that's a fine answer too
Jack
12:59
Vinnie or Torkelson for 2023 and beyond?
Brad Johnson
12:59
Oh, easily Vinnie for me
Love Vinnie. Tork seems OK

Winker, Benintendi, Kirilloff. How would you rank them for 2023?
Brad Johnson
1:01
Oof, could you ask me again another time? Or put another way, I intend to avoid all three. Though I suspect Winker will be cheap enough to be a great buy low.
Let's just say I don't have a clear impression on how I value Winker and Kirilloff yet. Benintendi is a /ignore for me.
Eury Perez
1:02
What do you think of Perez in a dynasty? Is he a 4th OF or could he be a Juan Pierre type?
