However, for teams that aren't presently trying to win, their job is to assess future roster design. That's partly why McLain is there. He's getting a look before alternatives block him. They know they're in on Elly. Who goes around him? It could make sense to give CES the first look.
Acuna or Kjerstad
1:45
I can only keep one to make room for this upcoming draft.  Would you hold onto Luisangel Acuna or Heston Kjerstad?
Brad Johnson
1:47
Depends on time horizon for me. Luisangel is the better prospect but Kjerstad offers better opportunity for instant gratification. Neither guy is a high-tier fantasy prospect for me, though they both have ways to make me look dumb for saying so.
Mike

is Volpe a good buy low candidate?
Brad Johnson
1:48
I think so, with the caveat that a demotion could in the cards if he doesn't pick up the consistency soon. Even in case of a demotion, the plan would be for it to be brief. But that might be an even lower point to buy.
1:49
If you're interested in buying low on a guy - any guy - don't fret too much about getting him at the absolute low point.
It's all about the delta on your expectation and the current price tag.

Dump Carlos Correa or tolerate underperformance and in and out of lineup for entire season?
Brad Johnson
1:50
Depends on league depth. Can cut in 12-team mixed and shallower. Especially in leagues without MI.

If the Reds can stay relevant/competitive till the trade deadline, does a good vet inning’s eater SP make sense or do you see them doing something like that after the season…thanks
Brad Johnson
1:50
I doubt they buy anything. If they do, it'll be someone they hope helps them in 24/25

How do you decide how to play ohtani in a 5x5 weekly locked league where he can only pitch or dh?
Brad Johnson
1:51
Honestly, I haven't been faced with this. It would likely depend on which categories I needed.
Mike
1:51
I would love to play in a league of all advanced metrics stats like WAR, FiP, WRC etc. do you know any site that supports that?
Brad Johnson
1:52
The easiest way to do something like this is to set up linear weights-based points scoring. I'm not aware of a service that offers roto scoring of this nature. I've manually done a couple bestball leagues of this style. They weren't as fun as I hoped

Who wins this trade (5x5 obp instead of AVG and QS instead of W). Side A: Tatis, Bellinger, Severino, Hunter Brown. Side B: Kyle Tucker, Luis Robert, Max Muncy, Tanner Bibbee
Brad Johnson
1:53
Just eyeballing, I lean the Tucker side even though I most-want Tatis.

Any idea why Albies hasn't really been running this season? Talked a lot about trying for 40/40 in spring training
Brad Johnson
1:54
The .303 OBP might have something to do with it. Hard to get in a groove on the bases when you're only there 30 percent of the time.
1:55
He's also only a league average sprinter
Marrrrlins
1:55
Braxton Garrett or Trevor Rogers ROS?
Brad Johnson

Garrett

Mike Trout and Ha Seong Kim for Julio Rodriguez and Ketel Marte. Which side of this trade do you like?
Brad Johnson
1:56
JRod
I'm a Ketel stan though
Jackson Holliday
1:56
I can't tell.  Does this kid have a weakness?  Looks like the complete package.
Brad Johnson
1:57
Let's see him in the upper minors. Despite the high walk rate, I've heard from one evaluator that he thinks MLB-quality breaking ball command could give him trouble.
1:58
Otherwise, the only obvious weakness is the high GB rate - a common enough issue with these precocious middle infield types
Wander Franco, for instance.
Dane Dunning
1:58
Am I worth a hold or drop for the next flash in the pan?
Brad Johnson
1:58
Keep scrounging
1:59
He's a nice IRL utility guy, but the fantasy application is very limited.
Pitching depth
1:59
I have too much pitching depth atm *knocks on wood* of the three: Alex Cobb, mitch Keller, and tyler Glasgow who do you think is the best to sell now for some hitting help?
Brad Johnson
2:00
You won't get anyone notable for Cobb. Glasnow might fetch a strong return, and there's enough hype on Keller to maybe get lucky there too. I'd put them all out there and then see who offers something that truly helps your offense.
If you can do that with Cobb, great. You'll probably need to use one of the others.
2:01
Time for me to wrap it up. Pitched 3.1 innings yesterday and my body is unhappy about sitting in my chair.
Ascraft
2:02
12 team 5x5 Dynasty, keep him or time to move on? Same with Houck, keep him or time to move on?
Brad Johnson
2:02
I'd hold onto Houck a little longer. I think Ashcraft will eventually find some sort of useful role, but it could take a long time.
Twins
2:02
Nestor Cortes just became avaliable in my fantasy league. Is he worth picking up? Also Clase also became available and I was thinking about releasing Ryan Pressly to pick up Clase but your thoughts?
Brad Johnson
2:03
No, Cortes is apparently injured. I'd 100% want Clase, but I'm not comfortable cutting a nearly-as-good closer for him. Surely you have someone worse you can cut?
