Not sure I see a role.

This late in the season, in a roto league, do you favor hitters over pitchers (more opportunities) in trades or is it still based upon need. I.e. is a great hitter and great pitcher equal this late in the season or does one lose more value than. The other as the season progresses?
Brad Johnson
1:57
I don't really consider this dimension for redraft. My needs and some league specific characteristics determine valuation.

What do I do about George Springer. I’m using him as RF in a keeper league. But there’s no way I keep him for his cost. Ironically RF is pretty thin on the waiver wire. I added Burleson this week (dropping Stroman).

Sounds like you use him for now and cut him in the offseason. If you're not contending, you can try to sell on the name brand.

Any chance James Wood or Noelvi Marte come up in september?
Brad Johnson
1:58
No to Wood
Marte is possible if the Reds remain in contention and have to back fill an injury.

Dylan Cease - buy in a dynasty keeper league? The price is Manzardo and Smith-Shawver
Brad Johnson
1:59
Got a lot of Dylan Cease questions today which I avoided because I don't have much to say about Cease.
2:00
You should look at him as similar to Blake Snell in that he CAN be the best pitcher in the league but usually is pretty frustrating
Projection should be around a 4.00 ERA and 1.25 WHIP.
I think that's a reasonable trade if your need is bulk pitching with upside.
2:01
Manzardo's more good-not-great and I'm not that in on Smith-Shawver just yet. It's really early in his career.
2B help in a dynasty league
2:02
In a 5 X 5 Dynasty league.  I do need help at 2B especially going into the future.   How would you rank the following:  Miguel Vargus, Michael Busch, Jonathan Aranda, or Matthew Shaw?   I assume Shaw will take a lot more patience.
Brad Johnson
2:02
Yes, Shaw's a down-the-road guy
Aranda is going to have trouble getting into the lineup due to lack of defensive home.
2:03
I like Vargas more than Busch for now, but I don't see either as very impactful in fantasy
For now, take your bets and keep looking for a new direction

Is Sandy Alcantra still worth holding onto for the rest of the season? His win-loss record not that great, along with the WHIP.
Brad Johnson
2:03
Absolutely
Bob

Even if Jung comes back this year, is he worth stashing on the DL, or just cut bait? I don't have any DL spots for him at the moment
Brad Johnson
2:04
Can cut in redraft, yes
It's my fantasy
2:04
Is Yordan Alvarez for Felix Bautista a fair offer in a 12 tm AL roto redraft
Brad Johnson
2:04
Not imo
I could squint and see a situation where it makes sense
Sometimes winning plays come from bad-looking trades
2:05
So if you're in a position where the best closer is what you need to win the season, then trading Yordan for him might make sense. Especially if you're (likely) locked into winning R/HR/RBI/AVG already.
2:06
If you're trying to offer Bautista for Yordan, you might get yelled at.

What's your take on Johan Rojas? With Marsh out he should see increased time and will he stick when Marsh is back?
Brad Johnson
2:07
Another guy I talked about in today's subscriber article. He's a nice play for SBs in the short term. I don't think he's ready to deliver power, but he might BABIP his way to AVG and runs. His defense is so good that he's worth starting (for the Phillies) even if he has a 70 wRC+.

Is this the normal type of season that you should expect from Volpe? Or will things get better for him in the batting avg category…. Cause he seems like he can be a 20/20 guy easily but the avg hurts…
Brad Johnson
2:07
No, this is the "we decided to promote the guy 4 months early" type of season
2:08
That said, yes, he does profile as like a .220 hitter. I just expect better power outcomes and discipline going forward.
2:09
Legit 30/30 threat. I'd almost bet on 25/25 next year.
Musgrove
2:09
3 weeks left in my regular season & I'm primed for a top 4 seed in the playoffs. Is Musgrove a hold in an IL slot or you think he'll get shut down? Roster replacement would be Ragans or a bench bat to cover JoeRam's impending suspension. Thanks!
Brad Johnson

I'd defer this decision for now. I don't know more than you do.
Time for me to wrap it up.
MLB expansion

Will 2-4 more real teams help fantasy baseball? Could increase the player pool
Brad Johnson
2:10
Well, it'll certainly expand the player pool. We'll have to adjust to a new balance, but it shouldn't have too much of an effect on our game overall.
