In an al only league and keep 10. Would you keep b. Naylor or ohoppe at c long term?
Brad Johnson
2:05
I like O'Hoppe more personally.
2:06
Naylor has some worrisome characteristics that could affect his role.
Admittedly, his fantasy upside is a tad higher thanks to the SBs

Will Brett Baty ever be worth a roster spot?
Brad Johnson
2:07
I still like him. I've been warning people he's a slow burn guy for years. Pounds the ball into ground. A LHH Yandy Diaz should eventually turn out to be a regular.
Lowe and Behold
2:07
Brandon Lowe is so frustrating. Obvious power skills but what seemingly now a cranky back. Would you keep for $18? ($260 budget)
Brad Johnson
2:08
No, he's more of a $6 guy for me now.

Why cut arraez so hard?
Brad Johnson
2:08
This relates to a previous "keep 5 of 7" question.
Simply put, the other 6 players on your list are multi-category stars.
2:09
Arraez hits for AVG and either gets R or RBI based on his lineup role. He doesn't homer, he doesn't steal.
He has his uses, but it's DIFFICULT to design a team around him that wins.

What is your opinion on Ceddanne Raffaela?
Brad Johnson
2:10
It's his birthday!
2:11
I wish I could say something positive, but I'm not seeing it right now. Wipe away the wild BABIP, and we're looking at a guy with no plate discipline, poor contact skills, and poor quality of contact. He has multiple adjustments to make between where he is now and becoming a MLB regular.

Do you see Julien as a strong fantasy performer next season or as a disappointment like Miranda for the Twins?
Brad Johnson
2:13
Julien and Miranda aren't comps. I *really* like Julien in the sense that he was a non-prospect in 2021 and now looks like a steady regular. That said, there are issues. The Ks are high because he gets passive. He's a 2B-only and not particularly good at it.
I think he's a solid fantasy 2B next season who plays up more in OBP formats.
Young vs Old
2:13
younger prospects rushed through the minors are the highest risk. the padres have proven as much
Brad Johnson
2:13
This really isn't how "proof" works.
2:14
Besides which, one Tatis wipes out a dozen Campusanos.
And Campusano is the same age as Gauthier.
Keepers
2:14
Gotta keep 6 of: Vlad, Tork, DLC, Glasnow, Devin Williams, Edwin Diaz, Trout, Skubal.  Thoughts?
Brad Johnson
2:15
oof, gonna have a hard cut in there is my first thought
2:16
For me, it's pretty clearly Vlad, DLC, Glasnow, Trout, Skubal to start. Punt the decision on Tork or a closer until the keeper deadline. And, if you can trade, work the phones.
SD Closer 2024
2:16
Robert Suarez looks better than Scott Barlow right now.  NL only, 260 unit roto, are they both worth keeping at 1 unit if Hader goes elsewhere?
Brad Johnson
2:16
Yea, I like that idea.
2:17
Time for me to wrap it up. It's been a good one.

What is your opinion on Wilyer Abreu?
Brad Johnson
2:17
There's something here. I definitely prefer him to Rafaela. He's demonstrating lg avg MLB skills.
2:18
Like any unproven guy, he has adjustments to make, but his baseline is pretty much on par with a 2 WAR OFer.
And he looks like a fantasy > irl guy from a stats profile

Thoughts on what we can expect from a healthy Marcelo Mayer when he reaches the show (dynasty roto format)?
Brad Johnson
2:19
Seems like a theme is emerging, I like Red Sox less than consensus.
2:20
Mayer is still quite a way from knocking on the door. He's a year young for Double-A so he gets this one written off as a freebie. Needs to improve over the winter though.
2:21
Would love to see more contact from him. Or else see the power start to play.

You basically punish players in deep farms and reward players in systems where they’re promoted quickly. That’s why you experts always think Profar types are the next big thing.
Brad Johnson
2:22
First, *I'm* not doing anything here. This is direct from insiders.
2:23
Nobody looks twice at a 24-year-old just because he's playing decently at Double-A. What matters are the traits, the components, that make up a good player.
