I think going all the way in would be a mistake because I don't think one big trade will solve their problems - they need the big pieces they have to step back up like they have before
Trader Jerry can't help himself so I would bet on some decent upgrades but not anything crazy

Would you rather have JP Crawford or N Gonzalez as a SS replacement until Seager (or Betts) is back?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:31
Fellow Nick!

11:32
MIL keeps bring Black up and then not playing him. Why don’t they just leave him in AAA? Doesn’t it take a major injury for him to get any playing time?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:32
I usually find it counterproductive to keep jerking these guys around.
But he's back to Triple-A as of this morning
11:33
I suspect it'll probably take an injury to get him a regular job
RAGBRAI
11:33
Mercado? Anything there this year or next?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:34
He's interesting enough to stream now and see what shakes out for next year

How would you rank D Festa, K Harrison, E Cabrera, S Baz and S Schwellenbach? They are all available in my league and I could use some SP depth
Nicklaus Gaut
11:35
Festa > Baz > Schellenbach > Harrison > Cabrera
Big Four Sox
11:36
Is Kristian Campbell as legit as he seems? Sox are looking strong in the minors.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:37
quite legit - just dominating Double-A in his first 100 PA, doing even more than at High-A but with improved discipline

11:38
Is Higashioka playing himself into more PT or is this just a nice run?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:38
a little of both - I think he'll have earned a little more PT once Campusano comes back but not enough to keep him fantasy relevant
been a nice band-aid tho - have him on a few 15-teamers

So, I understand the mentality that the Sox are multiple years away and should trade everything.  However, the Royals were 56-106 last year and very good this year.
Nicklaus Gaut
11:40
True but I'd argue those are fa-aar different situations, both in terms of team talent and general organizational strength

Reds seem unable to put together consecutive good games, most recently evidenced by the Cards series. In your opinion, are they a wildcard team or is it another "wait 'til next year!' iteration. Thanks!
Nicklaus Gaut
11:40
Next year!
11:41
NL central remains such a joke

With Giancarlo Stanton on the IL, and Ben Rice called up (why, I have no idea), do you think that Jahmai Jones has any useful role with the Yankees (again, in an AL-only, 5x5 league)?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:42
Nah
11:43
you'd think he'd be streamable in lefty-heavy weeks but New York has faced like 7 LHP in the past two weeks and he still can't get any play

AL OBP league. Cut Rocchio for Malloy? (This would leave me with mostly platoon guys (Schneeman/Palacios/Horwitz/David Hamilton) for my 3 MI slots)
Nicklaus Gaut
11:44
Yeah, that'd be fine - it's take good team management but those parts are good enough to power stream your MI slots from the bench
Too many trades
11:45
what’s your general philosophy about whether a bat or a pitcher is more valuable? In a 12 team h2h, would you prefer a Bryce Harper to a Corbin Burnes?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:45
boring answer I'm afraid - it depends on the team context for both you and your opponents.
In a vacuum, I'd rather have the safer hitter
11:47
but they're are plenty of situations where I'd favor an ace - for example,in H2H,  if it's takes a good but not great staff and turns it into one where I know  I'll at least be in a position to sweep most of the cats in a given week
Ben
11:47
Should I be worried about Marcus Semien?  Play/trade/drop?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:48
Play - his biggest value-add is tied up in how much he ends up compiling by the year's end but you gotta let him play through rough spots

Thoughts on lengthy injuries this year in the National league. There are many obliques that are keeping players out for 2 months or are they all just on my team?  Anyway is there a conditioning plan to correct this from trainers?  (I’m speaking  from ignorance)
Nicklaus Gaut
11:49
I don't know where the plague of obliques has come from, nor how to stop them, but the uptick over the last five years has been immense
11:50
and it extra sucks for fantasy because it's an injury (as we've seen many times) that can be easily reaggravated, generally necessitating that teams now take the recoveries slower

Will Mo pull the trigger on getting a fifth starter or is he going to rider with Pallante. Also assuming Nootbaar comes through rehab healthy does that put Siani on the bench or who gets released?
Nicklaus Gaut
11:51
If he does it'll be the tiniest little trigger you've ever seen - I don't expect many waves to be made.
11:52
Siani to bench
