I assume H2H is points (not categories), and so it's Walker-Votto-Cron. Not a huge difference between them.

I was offered Degrom and Soto for Cole and Devers in a Roto league. Should I do it?
Dan Harris
1:33
I would. You don't get the best player technically, but whatever. There's little difference between the pitchers and Soto. Mild drop to Devers IMO. So, give me deGrom and Soto.

Weird Science. Afternoon. Oscar Mercado...upside as poor man's Whit Merrifield? Or be happy with 15/25, 140 combined runs and ribbies, and a .260 average?
Dan Harris
1:35
Oh, Chet. I would be happy with 15-25, though I could see upside for more runs and RBI if he holds down the second spot in the lineup. I get that we all just accept these huge power gains from last year are real, but he just never showed much in the minors. Speed is legit, though, so I'd be happy with 15-25, 150 combined runs and RBI. But, that really is a bit of a poor man's Whit Merrifield so, all good!

Are you going pitchers heavy or hitters heavy with 82ish game slate?
Dan Harris
1:37
I am going with whatever strategy I was going with before the delay, with perhaps pushing innings eaters down just a bit. It sounds like the proposal, with certain changes like playing only your corresponding division and a universal DH, will largely be the same. So, draft like you would a regular season and don't overthink it TOO much.

Do you ever punt categories in a roto league? If so, which one(s)?
Dan Harris
1:39
I do not. I cannot, in good conscience, go into a league giving myself a cap on the number of points I can get. Now, to be fair, there have been times where mid-season, I realize I can't make up ground somewhere and punt (i.e., I was struggling in both saves and strikeouts, decided to load up on relievers and charge in saves, giving up on strikeouts). But in a draft? No, it's just not my style.

Good afternoon. Fingers crossed two sides can find common ground for the betterment of baseball in 2020. Should I be concerned if I have many AL & NL East starting pitchers on my teams?
Dan Harris
1:41
Getting a ton of questions like this, so hopefully everyone can see my answer here and feel satisfied. I think the biggest negative impact comes overall for NL starters and specifically for NL East starters. Division was already filled with mostly decent offenses, and having to play the AL East frequently just makes it worse. I don't worry too much about the AL East starters, because it's not like playing the NL East, which is filled with teams without a natural DH, will be tougher than playing AL competition. Also a slightly bigger boon to AL Central starters, specifically.

Dubon or Wong, middle infield.
Dan Harris

I am starting to get more intrigued by Dubon as time goes on. But still the underrated Wong here.

Khris Davis. Tell me more. Thx.

Tales of his demise have been greatly exaggerated. Was pretty much having his normal year last year until he ran into the outfield wall. So, he was one of my favorite sleepers heading into the year. That said, he has the classic "old man skills," and they can diminish pretty quickly. Overall, though, I'm willing to mostly give him a pass for last year and buy.

Do you think Counsell might use Burnes as a right handed, two years ago Hader? Multiple innings, high K reliever? Or is Burned going to push into starting rotation?
Dan Harris
1:44
With a fairly normal half-season schedule on the table, I really don't expect teams to go with a sixth starter, so I think Burnes gets left out to start. But I love his talent, can see him a multi-inning role, and think he probably gets the first shot to fill in.

Who would make the Hall of Fame if they never played another game?
Dan Harris
1:45
Well, certainly players like Albert Pujols and Miguel Cabrera. Justin Verlander, Clayton Kershaw, and Max Scherzer could retire immediately. And despite Mike Trout’s age, he’d be in if he suffered a catastrophic injury, given that he has the highest WAR ever for a player through his age-27 season. After that, it gets a bit dicey.

Can/Will Dinelson Lamet perform as a top 35 starter in this truncated season? All West  division clubs. Whole lot of pitchers parks. Whole lot of K's. Me thinks so. You?
Dan Harris
1:46
Yeah, Lamet was on a lot of breakout lists this year. Personally, I haven't been a huge buyer. He's still mainly a two-pitch pitcher with mediocre career numbers. Could he take a huge leap? Sure. I'd be happy to have him on my team. But probably not at the cost he's going at.

Have you ever let your personal feelings factor into your fantasy play?
Dan Harris
1:48
Nope. I mean, we play a fake game. It's fake. It's awesome. BUT IT'S FAKE. The moment you start letting real-life considerations factor in is the moment you start taking away the joy. Just separate it.

Do you think Dustin may and aj Puk will make an impact this season?
Dan Harris
1:51
I think Puk certainly has a chance to. He should start the season as the A's fifth starter and has the raw stuff to really make an impact. Harder to see with May. Likely won't start in the rotation and the Dodgers will have less of a need to manipulate DL time for innings purposes. So, I'm fine to roster him and take my shot, especially in a shallow league. But not expecting much.

What's the best advice you can give for someone looking to break into the fantasy industry?
Dan Harris

We actually just started a new podcast called Game Changers where we talk about just that. But, personally, just write. Have a body of work you can point to and practice your craft. And stick with it!

M Gore vs. S Howard. Their minor stats look very similar so far, IP 161.2 vs. 183, K-BB 25.5% vs. 25.2%, ERA 2.73 vs. 3.16 and xFIP 3.05 vs. 2.68. But peoples like Gore much more. Why?
Dan Harris
1:54
Honestly, I think it's just that people haven't adjusted yet for the shortened season. I think Gore's timeline to being in the rotation was a bit cleaner than Howard's at the start of the year, but Howard has been one of the big risers up my board with this delay. Future is bright and it's a good call. Hope your league-mates continue to ignore.

When will you be back on the football pod? You bring a fresh insight and I miss hearing you on it.
Dan Harris

Thanks! I'm sure I'll be back on the Sunday night recap episode and filling in here and there. Have a ton on my plate generally so happy to leave the heavy lifting to Tags, Bobby, and Yates. But than you for the kind words!

Assuming full season, Who is the most likely 20/20 candidates in deeper league? Scott Kingery, Nick Senzel, Trent Grisham, Garrett Hampson, Nick Solak. 20/20 means one of these players will be a top 50 hitters like R Laureano in next season and I think a reserved players are Mercado, Buxton, Biggio, Edman
Dan Harris
1:57
I really love Scott Kingery, though there's a little cold water on it now that Cutch should be back and push Kingery down to the bottom of the batting order. But in terms of 20/20, he's my favorite choice. I'm also a big fan of Hampson, particularly with the DH obviating the need for him to win the LF job. He should have enough ABs to matter.
