... some of the sketches he's putting out for that charity are pretty awesome. Glad to see other artists also jumping on that bandwagon
John Butler
10:41
@Felix for some reason I'm "under moderation," I guess they know I drop the F-Bombs like a sailor.
Morgan

@Andy R I’m a big Lazarus fan, but I’ve been holding out on ready the new quarterly format so I can just read it all when it’s done. I can’t handle the wait between issues.
Malvin
10:42
I dont think being published twice vs once matters, although being published as a cover (even a variant one) is likely more desirable then an interior in a pinup book
Felix Lu
10:42
It doesn't hurt!
Tyler T
10:42
Thanks Felix, I think it may be the only way to go. Thank you John!
Keith B
10:42
@tyler... also make sure to invest in the safe... dont get the cheap one. you get what you pay for with gun safes
Mike Perlman
10:42
Hi Felix, Andy and Benno!
Tyler T
10:42
Can I borrow the spellbook @Francis C?
Matthew Birdoff
10:42
My art collection is mostly on my wall. Am I doing it wrong? :)
Francis C
10:42
I feel comic art theft would turn any of us into a John Wick
Andy robbins
10:42
re the gun safe, I’m concerned that it would attract attention.  I’m pursuing a fireproof lateral filing cabinet
Keith B
10:43
@John Butler... potty mouth!

How much exposure to the general public are these Jim Lee auctions giving to comic art? And does it impact the hobby?
Felix Lu
10:45
It's excellent exposure...but mostly to comic fans who may be only tangentially aware of OA. Like the guy from Houston who's been winning so many...did anyone know him before as an art collector? More likely he's a comics fan-- and specifically a Jim Lee fan-- with deep pockets. Regardless, it does impact the hobby...how much remains to be seen.
Andy robbins

43” long, two drawers, not overly heavy
Francis C
10:45
@TylerT only if you can answer me the riddles 3
Joao Antunes
10:45
@ Felix will it be a reality another podcast with Albert Moy since the second one was censored and it was postponed to a future chance? I still hate to have missed the 24h window it was on air
Felix Lu
10:46
@Joao...never say never, but unlikely. The second one was too "hot"...it upset some people. So not sure how excited Albert will be to do another one! We can always hope, though!
Matthew Birdoff
10:46
I don't think the public at large is aware of the auctions.
Felix Lu
10:47
I think comics fandom at large is aware. That's enough to drive these auctions to these levels. How much the world at large knows...well, there's still time. We'll see.
Francis C
10:47
On a side note the #Creators4Comics hashtag is a great place to see all major artist auctions tied to the crisis
Felix Lu
10:47
I think that effort should be centralized, but it's, again, a great cause.
Tyler T
10:47
Interesting @Andy, have not looked into those. So hard to justify when some of those safes cost as much as a high quality cover.
Benno119
10:48
Anyone have an over/Under on whether Heroes will come off in June (or even if Dragon Con over Labor Day might be too soon)  I have tried to slow general art purchases, but as noted, not with complete success. Sometimes the right piece at the right time means you have to jump.
Felix Lu
10:48
@Benno...I can't see either happening. Feels irresponsible to do anything less than cancel, at this point.
Keith B
10:48
Agree w/ @Andy Robbins... do it in a way where people dont see you having a big box with labels all over it into your house. Especially ones that say "gun" safe on it... best to have it obscured.
Malvin
10:48
@Jaspon K, what aspect of impact to hte hobby are you asking about
Brent Stringer
10:48
The Jim Lee auctions are great for the hurting stores that are getting the money but at the same time, those prices are NUTS.
Tyler T
10:48
@Francis hahaha
@Francis Agree on the John Wick comment as well
Francis C
10:48
Another art question. My collection is now at over 400 pieces. Does anyone ever have a set number in mind, or goal. Some days I want to pull a Thanos and put the lower half up for sale lol
Felix Lu
10:49
@Francis...talk to Andy...
Jason Wood
10:49
Afternoon everyone
Tyler T
10:49
Excellent @Andy
Keith B
10:49
maybe not the public at large... but his comic reading fans for sure. he def has pull outside of the OA community
Matthew Birdoff
10:49
" The second one was too "hot"...it upset some people. " wellNOW I HAVE to listen!
Felix Lu
10:49
@Matthew...it's gone forever. Sorry.
Matthew Birdoff
10:50
Mignola is running auctions as well
Felix Lu
10:50
And now those seem "cheap"! LOL!
Connecting…

@felix I'm halfway through the currently available Mort Cinder hardcover.  The stories are so-so for me, but the visual style and storytelling are wonderful for my taste, and I think are considered groundbreaking in their day by the cognoscenti.
