Re Lazarus - I hate the quarterly - made me completely forget about the book
Keith B

i dont think heroes is going to happen...

PS, as Felix knows, seeing Ian Bertram's sketchbook in person the evening I met him while doing a podcast made me immediately go and buy a piece of art from him the next day from a book I had never even seen before.  After that it was two commission pieces. If you ever have a chance to look at one of his sketchbooks do not miss it.

I'd be shocked if there were any gatherings over 10 people allowed until a vaccine is distributed sometime next year.
Joao Antunes
10:51
@ Matthew Birdoff my problem with my artworks being on the wall is that I filled the walls until nothing more could fit and now I would love to put many more artworks and I just don't have the space, and of course my wife don't allow me to just keep framing and pilling up the artworks I'd like to change.
Andy K
10:51
CDC probably recommends no cons/large gaterhings pre vaccine
Andy robbins
10:51
I read the floppies on pirate comics and buy trades - I think fessing up to this on Twitter got me blocked by Donny cates
My first block - so proud!
Jason K
10:51
@malvin - maybe something like bringing in more collectors.
John Butler
10:51
@Andy, the safe's are fireproof for a bit... thats what I like more than theft... rarely is art stolen unless someone knows.
Malvin
10:51
My mentality isn't to target a number for a total, I hit 1K at one point and pared back, but still buying more
Brent Stringer
10:51
If Beyonce would tweet out #Creators4Comics then there might be some larger attention...
Francis C
10:52
In terms of commissioning new guys it’s weird. With the money needed to do a good, worthwhile commission, I tend to go with existing artists that I trust.
Andy K
10:52
@ Benno119 looking mid 2021 IMO (post vaccine) before any cons get going but who knows. supposedly antibody therapy ready in 4Q20
John Butler
10:52
@benno, yeah, Ian's pages are insane. Nice and big, too. So amazing to look at.
John Espinoza
10:52
@Francis Not a bad idea to trim down and use the funds for the shiny stuff. I don’t have a nice a collection as you, but a lot of my itches have been scratched. Looking to buy 1-2 pieces a year. I haven’t bought anything published in 6 months; though I have my most expensive piece on time payments right now.
Keith B
10:52
@andy robbins i think you just became some canadian guy i know's hero
Morgan
10:52
Ian Bertram did a live Instagram session with Darcy Van Poelgeest the other day and was showing off some art from Precious Metal. Absolutely insane.
Felix Lu
10:54
@Morgan...he is endeavoring to do all the pages 18X24...I saw a big batch of them in NYC a few months ago...he pulled them out as we were having beef noodle soup...ignore anything on the art that might look like soup stains...all intentionally placed by Ian! (:P)
Jason K
10:54
@benno - I agree. Ian's sketchbooks are insane! Felix's guys should actually publish theirs. Ryan ottley seems to have a great sketchbook too
Francis C
10:54
all I know is if they do NYCC this year, we will all be wearing masks
John Butler
10:54
@morgan, he showed me some pages few months ago. Those pages are huge. Absolutely massive.
John s.
10:54
Felix when are you likely to get another podcast up, I'm getting bored over in the UK and need something new to listen to.
Felix Lu
10:55
@john...maybe in next couple of months...some of it is logistical...I used to do them all in person...now we have to make sure the party at the other end has the proper equipment...not as easy as it sounds...but working on it
Matthew Birdoff
10:55
@joao I"I would love to put many more artworks and I just don't have the space, and of course my wife don't allow me to just keep framing"

> there are 2 potential solutions implied by your statement  ;)
Felix Lu
10:56
@Matthew...I believe transcripts are admissible...:P
Francis C
10:56
i put up a few pieces on eBay. Decided to weed out some comics first then will probably go back to putting some more art up.
Jason K
10:56
@morgan - that was great. Art looks phenomenal
Andy robbins
10:56
Re safe - all I want is fireproof for a bit w some locking.  I’m going to trim it out w wood so it looks like a cabinet
Jason Wood
10:57
I guess I'm the king of the other sides of that...commissioning unproven artists. It's kind of my thing.
Felix Lu
10:57
@Jason...you're the truffle hog of the hobby!
Tyler T
10:57
@Felix Any chance Harren will reopen 11"x17" commissions down the road? Have always wanted the opportunity at one and I feel like I have missed it.  Also was too late on the 11"x17" Spider-man and I wanted it sooo bad.
Felix Lu
10:58
@Tyler...very sorry, but I don't think so. Not anytime soon, at least. See my earlier comment re: Tradd...if he's not in the mood, it's not good for anyone. He just needs a break, and it may be an extended one.
John Espinoza
10:59
@Malvin Even before the pandemic, did you stop doing your weekly eBay auctions? Weird forum to ask, I know.
Andy K
10:59
@Felix Lu what did that Little Bird trade cover go for yesterday? Gorgeous piece.
Felix Lu
10:59
$7500. It's great. Hard to let go.
Keith B
10:59
i'm not going to new york this year... which is a shame. was looking forward to NYCC
Carl Choi
10:59
This is finally happening!
Malvin
10:59
@John. S, is this THE John S in the UK that runs the con?
Andy robbins
10:59
But I’m the guy who’s had way too much art stacked in a regular cabinet for way too long - so don’t listen to me
Connecting…

@felix I'm halfway through the currently available Mort Cinder hardcover.  The stories are so-so for me, but the visual style and storytelling are wonderful for my taste, and I think are considered groundbreaking in their day by the cognoscenti.
