Hey everyone, Andy's blocked.
Malvin
11:17
@John, thanks.  I think I ran out when I stopped reading comics so less interest/knowledge in new comics.  Plus the spencer sales were a good source, I haven't bought from him in a few years as his stuff runs out.  I still get the occasional good buys and they all go to comiclink.  Right now I have a bunch of Khoi Pham and Howard Chaykin pieces
Ron Lim
11:17
@Andy... YEAH! This year I has tix and my preferred hotel for both SDCC and Star Wars Celebration (it would have been my first one). I was looking forward to doing tow big show, but that's not happening now.
Andy robbins
11:17
Bye Donny - keep in touch!
Felix Lu
11:18
@Andy...write @Ryan S...he apparently has some Donny stories, too...
Keith B
11:18
yeah i dont think anything happens until it's controllable... either through test tracking, a working treatment, or a working vaccine.
Jason K
11:19
Hey does the Wrightson Frankenstein count as the 7 figure sale you've talked about, Felix?
Felix Lu
11:20
Not really...more akin to the Frazetta sales...I mean proper comic art.
Ron Lim
11:20
Actually, I'm on tail end of a cough I've had for SIX WEEKS. Part of me hopes that I had it so I can relax a little. Tried getting tested, but my symptoms were/are too mild. At least its not serious.
Ron S
11:20
Wait, there's a party and no one invited me??
Felix Lu
11:21
Is this Ron Sonenthal or Ron Smith? I already got "Chris K" wrong...
Andy robbins
11:21
Khoi Pham - bummer that guy missed the Elevator up in the comics high rise
Keith B
11:21
hey Ron
Ron S
11:22
Ron Sonenthal, and pleased to be a small part of the FelixComicart empire.
Felix Lu
11:22
@Ron...thanks for the live HA report on the podcast...I guess that's the last one for a while...
Malvin
11:22
Khoi Pham is solid and draws nice stuff, but lots of people can draw...
Rob R
11:22
howdy all
Josh G
11:22
@Andy what do you mean about Khoi?
Felix Lu
11:24
@Josh...in case Andy's flight has taken off...I think he means that Khoi is criminally underrated...I certainly think so!
Keith B
11:24
Congrats on that Deadman pickup Ron. Great piece :)
Jason K
11:24
@ron congrats on the Deadman!
Ron S
11:24
Thanks!  I think there are a lot of really strong artists out there right now, and they're not all getting their due.
Rob R
11:25
@ron the depth of talent right now is incredible.
Malvin
11:26
@Ron S, agreed, as i said lots of people can draw.  We like what we like so only some command high prices for their art, even if their 'craft' is great
Rob R
11:26
Every day I see a new artist that I wonder how I've never heard of them
Newell
11:26
@Felix DWJ recently did some art for a few Magic: The Gathering cards. If he decides to sell the OA, is that something that would go through you?
Felix Lu
11:27
@Newell...yes. Anything original art related. Remains to be seen which of those pieces Daniel decides to let go...but we'll announce when ready, as always.
Rob R
11:27
@Newell that piece is greatt!
Jimmy S
11:28
Hi everyone
Newell
11:28
@Felix sweet! I'd be very interested in those.
@Rob R right??
Keith B
11:28
Hey @Rob R
:D
Ron S
11:28
@Malvin, I think some part of the equation is what book they're working on.  Big character = lots of attention.
Kolin V
11:29
Hi Felix,Any chance the Felixcomicart stable of artists doing auctions like Jim Lee is doing on EBay to benefit the industry?
Felix Lu
11:30
@Kolin...not like Jim's auctions, per se (although we will have at least one artist contribute to that). Probably more like the ACLU benefit we did before. Still working out logistics!
Kolin V
11:30
Cool!!
Felix Lu
11:31
Also...we're probably going to be doing ours after this initial rush of fundraising, so we don't cannibalize each other.
Kolin V
11:32
Makes sense
Rob R
11:33
@Keith haiii!
John Espinoza
11:33
From the looks of this chat, it seems like the OA market is still very strong, at the least on the demand side. It is interesting for me to read that now there’s too many available artists to commission. It also seems like $ normally spent at cons is being allocated in other art areas, not the piggy bank.

@felix I'm halfway through the currently available Mort Cinder hardcover.  The stories are so-so for me, but the visual style and storytelling are wonderful for my taste, and I think are considered groundbreaking in their day by the cognoscenti.
