At least try RANDOM once and then internally evaluate after.
Morgan H
3:11
@JW it doesn’t matter what the system is, people will always complain. Whether it’s con badges, concert tickets, sneaker drops... people who don’t get what they are after will whine 🤷‍♂️
Sean
3:11
You win some, you lose some.

People need to remember this is a hobby.   It is supposed to be fun.   With respect to missing out on getting art from a drop, an old dealer once told me: "Missing out on a piece of art is like waiting for the bus.   Miss this one and other piece shows up 10 minutes later."
Felix Lu
3:12
@Stephen...haha! A variation of Albert's "There's always another piece"...
Mike Snitzer
3:12
Hey Felix, ever think to do more comprehensive preview of pages in drops? I find it helps to know what pages are dropping so that recognizing them is easier.. still chaos at the drop but it helps to not be seeing pages for first time at drop.
Rlex
3:12
@morgan H indeed. At least I'm relatively sure we aren't competing with bots in this case.
Jeremy Moore
3:12
I agree, Olivia. I have a few pages that I like but feel like I might have rethink the purchase if I wasn’t rushing to just have a page from the artist. I’ve gotten better about it.
Olivia M.
3:12
@Stephen - Totally agree! Whether you get a piece or not, it all happens for a reason...
3:13
@Mike Oh this is a great idea. Just to be able to see what his coming.
Reba
3:13
@olivia Agree, I like drops when I've had a chance to already choose which page I'm after and then chase that one in particular. It gets hard if that one's gone 'cos I find it almost impossible to choose 'a replacement' at the pace the drops go.
Ron Lim
3:13
@Felix Here's a thought. A lot of times people miss out in the drops because they want to make sure they get the one piece they want. What if you previewed the pieces before the drop.
Felix Lu
3:14
@Ron/Mike...for comics, I only do the drop after the issue is out...so at least there's that to look at...for everything else, I'll usually post a representative sample on social media...it won't be everything, necessarily...but it will be enough to give an idea...also, I do like to reveal surprises at the drop for those who check in!
Olivia M.
3:14
Rather than trying to snag something for the hell of it
Josh Hall
3:15
@Felix, I second Mike's thought!
thomas B
3:15
Apparently a surprise Sunday chat can get people excited so why not try a surprise drop once in a while?
jw
3:15
Drop previews would be great.
Mike Snitzer
3:15
Ron Lim I just suggested the same above
JohnD
3:15
@lambo, @malvin - sorry. Yeah didn’t mean to say ES was an auction site. I guess just comic art dealers in general. Thank you! I’ll have to check out comic art tracker
matt D
3:15
@Mike yeah I have asked about this before previewing the images to know what to buy
Carl Choi
3:15
Howdy folks
Lambo
3:15
@ron lim  im not sure how it would be different if people could preview the pages. The competition would know just as well.  It would still be the fastest and luckiest to win
Casey A
3:15
I often feel like the pages that are in a Twitter preview often go even faster because of that. I’m sure we all have our conspiracy theories anytime we don’t win 😂 the fact is, we just weren’t first. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Andy R
3:15
@ron - isn’t that what the Twitter (and FB, I assume) posts with the big pic us?
thomas B
3:15
Would also be in favor of art previews ( with no price? ) the day before drops so we can decide what piece we really want to go after.
Felix Lu
3:16
I actually HAVE previewed every page for certain issues before...VENOM, THANOS WINS, SUPERMAN/
3:17
BATMAN...off the top of my head...not sure that really helped anyone...still have to be fastest, as Lambo says...
Michael
3:17
An alternative is TIMED LOTTERY. Accept all comers for (example) 10 minutes and then draw from the submissions, all else the same, some pieces will have more submissions, some less, but all will have 10 minutes to view art first and then select and all are equal as to being drawn or not, except for size of pool.
Ron Lim
3:17
@Lambo, Sometimes in the frenzy of a drop, I might buy the first piece that I "like" rather than taking my time looking for the one I might "love"
Reba
3:17
Isn't seeing the comic a preview? I guess that doesn't work for the illustration pieces but I don't mind some mystery reveals of those
thomas B
3:17
Would also suggest to hold drops until at least a week after the comic is released in print. Lots of shipping delays these days and nothing worse than to see a drop happen before you have had the chanc to read the actual comic
Andy R
3:18
But Thomas - Tge goal is to make the drop an event people tune into.  (And I’m not a drop apologist - I’ve long thought - and tiks Felix - the top couple % of pieces should be bid)
Eric S
3:18
I love getting full previews - would love more of that
Ron Lim
3:18
@AndyR, not all the pieces are in the Twitter preview. BTW, I'm just playing devil's advocate.
Malvin
3:18
@John D, comicarttracker captures most. Comiclink blocked them though, so that is out, not sure what else blocked them
Casey A
3:18
@malvin, I saw a few pieces on clink that looked like fun- not as many major ones as the round with the Bagley Carnage cover, so maybe some pickups that’d be a little more under the radar.
Malvin
3:19
@casey, yeah, this is the smaller clink auction but sometimes there are bigger pieces.  but with all of us, we like a range of high to low end pieces anyways, it really depends what hits the nostalgic sweet spot and the price
Felix Lu
3:19
Here's a preview...
Jeremy Moore
3:19
To be fair, there are times when I haven’t had the chance to go to my LCS and get the issue that is already being sold. Also, some pages translate different in B&W than they do in color in the comic.
Casey A
3:19
I like more chaotic drops where we know less 😂. I acknowledge that I’m alone on this. Just feel like it rewards the hustler more, which I always like.
