do any of you guys (other than Felix) work in comics as well or just collect?
Felix Lu

@Guest...please log in with your name, thanks!

I've reduced my facebook usage the pas 12 months, but I joined those OA groups.  They're kinda disjointed at times and can't keep up.

@Morgan I haven't met Andy, but he commented on a piece on my CAF and I only knew who he was because of the podcast... but I had the same feeling of being starstruck, lol.

I first talked to Andy by telling him no I won't sell Maria pages. lol
Jacob

sorry that me, Jacob. Switched to my laptop and forget to type my name in again

@Morgan - I love Deadly Class art.  Great stuff!

@ Felix, from my perspective you've been one of the most important persons to boost the interest in the hobby in a lot of different ways and we all should be very thankful for that. Also I bet for most of your artists you had and will continue to have a huge impact in their lifes and that is awesome!
Felix Lu

Thanks Joao! Bill Cox/CAF is the most important guy of the last 20 years. Regardless of how one feels about CAF, this hobby would look very different without it.

@Felix lol no, but it was also frustrating knowing he was in front of me in that line. He got some great pages that day.
Felix Lu

@Morgan...gotta get up pretty early to beat out that guy...although he's on the exclusive podcast and I'll tell a story about how he got aced out in Mignola's line...

@casey Felix podcast is great to learn. Then reach out to ppl on CAF that seem to have similar tastes as you. Lots of very nice collectors. I've also engaged with a lot of Euro collectors on 2DG to learn more

@Guest - I did take an art class back in college - my Jr year. Was tempted to switch majors

It’s a scan of Jae Lees. Then you have Shalvey, Gerads, Level, Quiones, Fleecs, Sanya and Lee (again) in the mix for the commissions.
Jacob

these were my first OA purchases. Just recently had them framed.
Felix Lu

Beautiful art, and perfect matts.

@Felix anything secondary market has been slim for me but I collector from Silver Age to today and this year has been pretty dry to me. Sandman for instance has dried up to an even greater level recently.
Felix Lu

@Nathan...no fire sales. Yet, at least. OA has proven to be unreasonably resilient.

still enjoy sketching but went the CPA route

I’m especially proud of getting the artist of My Little Pony to do Gorgon.

Briefly spoke with Andy during last years SDCC waiting in line for DWJ at Felix’s Booth. Told him I was a huge fan of his Felix Podcast appearances and then he showed me a great Toth Page he got!
Morgan H

@Jacob love Descender! I’ve got two pages from the series as well.
Alvaro

Jason M Thanks!
Jacob

thanks! Those are actually colored wooden frames used as "matts." Ruben over at Parker Jordan did them. He's a whizz.
Joe L

@Dan T, I love Deadly Class art too. I missed out on getting a good Saya page form the early run, but I was able to get a commission from Wes recently: Saya wearing a shirt of one my favorite bands Joy Division. It’s fantastic

@JasonK Thanks for the tip. I've definitely enjoyed the podcast.

@Morgan h, awesome. Which pages? I think Dustin may be about out of them at this point. Wish I could have afforded a cover when he had them
Alvaro

@Joe L Seen it! Very nice :)
Morgan H

@jacob I’ve got them up on CAF

I generally find that the market is overpriced.  I have problems selling stuff (to finance new art buys) even at a loss.

@Alvaro Thanks!

@Joe L - that sounds great.  I've got some cool Saya pages and my first piece of OA was when Saya showed up her brother in the night club.  I'm waiting on a Saya & Maria commission from Rossi Gifford, who I think will mesh well with them.
Alvaro

Hey, has anyone seen Grampá's auction at Heritage? Some hours ago it was up to 7520$... and 20 days to go!
Joe L

@Disgruntled, I think all artists (not just Felix’s guys’

@Morgan Great pages. Descender is such a good series.
Joe L

oops, hit send too soon.
Felix Lu

@Joe @Disgruntled...to me, if things sell, then they're priced right. We've got a 90%+ sell through rate. Now, at the same time, if anyone tries to resell right away, then they may not always get their money back. To me, it's less a matter of the art being "overpriced", then trying to move it too soon. Like I've said, if you bought John Byrne X-MEN art in March of 1978, and tried to sell it in September 1978, you probably took a loss.
