I don't believe this for a minute, but -- if the Blue Jays for some reason I can't fathom would entertain the idea of trading Bo Bichette, what would a realistic offer look like?
Are these real?
3:49
I'm hearing from Cubs outlets that the Cubs have discussed a trade for Bo Bichette and are considering bringing back Jorge Soler. Any truth to these rumors from what you've heard?
Hi
3:49
Whats with the Bo rumours?
Anthony Franco
3:50
I hadn't seen anything on Bichette. My coverage shift isn't until the evening, so maybe Steve or Darragh are aware of wherever this is coming from
I'd be shocked if the Jays traded him though
Verdugo to ATL
3:51
What would it take for the Braves to get Verdugo in LF?
Anthony Franco
3:52
Not a whole lot. Maybe a guy from the back of the top 10 in a thin farm system
Cubs 3B
3:52
Who plays the most inning at 3B for the Cubs in 2024? Chapman, Candelario, Morel, Madrigal, Wisdom, somebody else. What would you do if you were Jed?
Anthony Franco
3:52
I've come around on the Cubs being the best fit on Chapman
3:53
I don't think any of Wisdom, Morel or Madrigal are viable options there. Doesn't seem like they're going to bring Candy back. Chapman fits the general spending range they've attacked under Hoyer
Glasnow
3:54
What kind of return can the Rays expect.  Seems like not much if a team takes on the entire salary
Hits Like Rays
3:54
What are the Rays likely to get if they trade Tyler Glasnow?  Does a Glasnow trade make the Rays far likelier to hold onto Randy Arozarena and Brandon Lowe?
Spirited
3:54
Do the Rays trade Glasnow?
Anthony Franco
3:56
Even at one year and $25MM, there's pretty strong trade value. Acquiring team would likely get a comp pick if he walks in free agency a year from now. The Rays themselves would be able to QO him and get a pick after the first round, which is something they'll factor into that decision
3:57
Imagine they'd need a controllable rotation option back in the return, even if just a guy who projects as a back-end starter. Should be able to get a couple solid but sub-Top 100 prospects beyond that

I keep seeing people laugh at the notion that the Cubs could sign Ohtani and Bellinger or Ohtani and Yamamoto as if their combined salaries would be prohibitive. But then the Dodgers are talked about as fits for pretty much every big name FA while they already have Freeman, Betts, Kershaw, etc on the payroll. Is this more just based on the Rickett's willingness (or lack thereof) to spend historically, or is there something I'm missing?
Anthony Franco
3:59
Ricketts has shied away from the true top-of-the-market guys and for all the Dodgers spending, Freeman and Betts are the only ones they've gone particularly long term on.
4:00
L.A. has a projected luxury tax number $25MM lower than the Cubs' one right now. The Dodgers have shown a willingness to pay the tax basically every year (sometimes blowing past it) while the Cubs generally approach it but tend to stay underneath
4:01
Still have a decent amount of questions in here. I'll stick around for another 15 or so

Who is farther from contention: NYY or BRS?
Anthony Franco
4:02
BRS is the Red Sox, I assume? I like Boston a little more but wouldn't be surprised if either is a playoff team in 2024
M’s Fan
4:02
How would the 2024 Athletics do in the KBO? Japanese league?
Anthony Franco
4:03
Confident that they'd be the best team in both leagues by a pretty wide margin, especially in the KBO
Chief
4:03
Do you think the Royals will extend BWJ? Seems like they will lose what is left of their fan base if they don’t. If so, how long and how much?
Anthony Franco
4:05
It'd just be so far beyond any other contract in franchise history. His ask should be pushing $200MM at this point. I'm sure they'll discuss it but I can't see them going that far
Backstopping
4:05
the marlins need catching help. There's not much available in FA. Is there a trade target that makes sense?
Anthony Franco
4:07
Could try to see if the Jays would deal one of Jansen or Kirk. Christian Vázquez is more likely to be moved. He's pretty boring but fine, probably better than Fortes

I know in all likelihood Detroit won't trade Tarik Skubal, but what about a package of Edman, O'Neill, Gallegos, and Liberatore from the Cardinals?  Enough to get it done and fill some spots for DET?
Anthony Franco
4:07
Not enough impact talent for Detroit to do that

Hi Anthony. Happy Thanksgiving! I am not a believer in the Dodger pursuit of Ohtani. Great player but there is a boatload of talented players , particularly pitchers, the Dodgers could sign or trade for. The team won 100 games with a decimated pitching staff. Ohtani may never pitch again. What are your thoughts and who would you really go after, other than Ohtani.
Anthony Franco
4:08
I think they'll be all in on Ohtani but if they miss, Yamamoto seems like the pretty clear #2 target. Sonny Gray fits there too
Dollar General Mo
4:09
Surely the Cardinals realize their ticket sales will plummet if they do not acquire a true number one and two. Sign Gray and trade for Cease?
M’s Fan
4:09
Cardinals Fans have a right to feel like Gipson and Lynn are giant pumpkins right? They don’t look like much of an improvement over bad Waino and the guy they traded to the Orioles
Anthony Franco
4:09
One of Gibson or Lynn is fine. Adding both this early in the offseason is perplexing
4:10
They're clearly not done on the rotation front but I agree that it's hard to be enthused with how things have started there. Even if they pulled a Glasnow or Cease trade, I wouldn't feel a ton better about the 2024 rotation than the one they had to start '23 that was non-viable
4:11
It's an odd start for an organization that was pretty vocal about needing to add upside
mmddyyyy
4:11
As an executive, what are the benefits of publicly announcing that your team is cutting payroll?
Anthony Franco
4:12
Not sure there is one really. Lower the expectations for your fanbase, I guess?
Random FO subscriber question
4:12
Hi Anthony. First of all, Happy early Thanksgiving! Thank you for always doing these chats for us. I don’t think you guys get enough gratitude for all you do to keep us informed. My random question is have you guys thought about doing FO subscriber chats for the other TR sports sites?
Anthony Franco
4:13
Not that I know of but I can ask Tim about it if you want to check back in next week
