Hard for me to see the offense staying at that level with his kind of approach
4:00
Last year, there was one hitter (Tim Anderson) with a wRC+ above 115 and a walk rate below 4% among guys with 400 plate appearances
You have to be batting title level good to hit at that level while walking so infrequently
4:01
That said, even if Harris is "only" like a 105 wRC+ guy with excellent defense in center field, that's a star

4:01
The yanks don’t need an outfielder. Hicks has a 110 wrc+ and carpenter fills any need for a left handed corner outfielder. Instead they should focus on pitching. Thoughts?
Anthony Franco
4:02
I agree but there have been enough reports they're looking for outfield help I think they'll get another outfielder
Job Pederson

Where do I finish the year?
Anthony Franco

San Francisco
Keith

Do you believe we will ever see player loans like soccer?
Orioles
4:02
Orioles are legit playoff threats next year. What say you?
Anthony Franco
4:03
Whoops, sorry
4:04
On Keith's question: no I don't think that's ever coming to MLB. I'm not super familiar with the European soccer setup but the idea of giving away players for millions of dollars and no talent seems pretty anathema to how baseball functions now
4:05
As for the Orioles, I'm not quite ready to go there yet. The position player core is coming into place but the pitching staff is still rough. Even if Gray-Rod comes up and hits the ground running (which isn't a guarantee) the back of the rotation is going to need work

Who won the drew waters trade?
Anthony Franco
4:07
I'd prefer the Braves end of it but it's a better question for a prospect expert. I'm not familiar with Hoffman really, and he might be the best player Kansas City got back

The O's are in the wildcard hunt. What is the likelihood they call-up Gunnar Henderson by mid-August?
Jorge Mateo
4:08
Does Baltimore stick with me full time in the second half?
Anthony Franco
4:08
I think they'll just keep rolling with Mateo. They're aware they're still playoff longshots this season, can't see them deviating from the plan to force Henderson up before he's ready
4:09
I imagine he spends the rest of the season in Norfolk, they see how he handles adjustments there, and we do the whole service time debate next spring

How bad is graterol and any word on when the other pitchers may be coming back
Anthony Franco
4:09
Unknown on Graterol. Dave Roberts didn't sound especially worried but he's going for an MRI today so we'll see

Take at least 2/3 with Philly
go all in?
Anthony Franco

(Marlins)

I don't know what all-in really entails for them. I think they'll try to add multi-year pieces if they're still on the fringes of contention. They're another team that fits for Laureano, could look to add some more high-leverage relief help
4:12
So I think they'll be aggressive but I'd still be surprised if they go "all-in" to the point they're landing marquee rentals like Willson Contreras

With the Kansas City situation, where were the agents and union who should have been protecting the interests of their clients and members?
Anthony Franco
4:12
I'm not sure what you mean by this. The protocols for the border crossing are pretty clear, mutually agreed upon by the league and union

Why trade Ian Happ? I think a4 year contract at 15k per would be a win-win. I think keeping him makes more sense.
Anthony Franco
4:13
I don't mind Happ as an extension candidate but I think you have to do one or the other. The Cubs are going to be bad in 2023, and this summer is where they'll have the most leverage in trade talks
4:14
4/$60M feels like a reasonable enough starting point in talks. I don't know if he'd take it but it's a fair offer
4:15
But you'd have to be pretty confident you're going to get something done to not move him in the next couple weeks
Nomahhhh
4:15
Who you got in the home run derby??
Anthony Franco
4:15
Answered earlier. I'll just keep taking Alonso until someone beats him haha

MLB has a problem, young pitchers going down. Baz is the latest example.
Anthony Franco
4:16
Yeah it's just a case of rough incentives that I don't know how you fix. Throwing as hard as guys like Baz do isn't good for your arm, but the main reason Baz is so good is because he throws the hell out of the ball
4:18
It's a catch-22 that I don't know how you fix. Pitching at less than max effort is probably the best way to stay healthy but those guys are generally going to be worse than pitchers who max out and are willing to shoulder the injury risk, so everyone has to do it to keep up

Why hasn't Pagan been sent to AAA?
Anthony Franco
4:19
Emilio? They probably missed the boat there. He entered the year at 4.091 years of service, and guys with 5+ years can't be optioned without their consent
4:20
Pagan should've hit the five-year mark a few weeks ago, so you can't do it anymore
