I can't honestly tell you how it worked, but something like that

Follow up OL question - in your answer, which G and T would be out?
Gerry Dulac
1:58
Turner and Chuks.

Gerry, I saw a report that Claypool had surgery on his right arm.  He apparently never told anyone associated with the Steelers about it.  I hope it was successful.  Maybe he won't always fall down while catching a football.
Gerry Dulac
1:58
Haha...I'll check on that.

Gerry, Steelers Now just verified that Chase Claypool had right arm surgery, yesterday.
Gerry Dulac
2:08
yes, I was just told Claypool announced it on his Instagram account. Thanx
2:20
OK kids, the rescheduled time appears to have thrown everyone off. No questions...
2:23
We're checking on a potential problem. I'll keep the chat room open for a while...

Gerry, if Hunt gets the GM job with the Raiders, will the Steelers get comp picks this year or next year? Also, how many? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
2:23
No. Doesn't work that way.

That Center playing for the Chiefs sure would have looked good in a Steeler uniform...we could have had him in Round 2..
Gerry Dulac
2:29
Yes, and you wouldn't have had Freiermuth.

Have you seen the video where Kelce, Hill, and Mahomes basically designed the final two plays on their own to get into FG range? Pretty cool stuff. Juju could do a lot in that offense.
Gerry Dulac
2:30
Ben did that all the time.

Gerry, can we expect FA to be a little more fun for steeler fans this year? Meaning, more activity and maybe/possibly a bigger name than we are used to seeing? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
2:30
With the increased salary cap, I think you could. All they need is one big hit, preferably for the O-line.

Hello Gerry, appreciate your work.  Lindenbaum is the highest rated interior lineman, but hes even smaller than KG at C, does that concern you?
Gerry Dulac
2:32
I know, and yes it does. But he's probably more accomplished because he played center, not guard, in college. I haven't looked at the free agent market for centers, but that's the way I would go, try to find a Jeff Hartings.

Hi Gerry:  Call me naïve but what is with the Claypool tweet with postop R arm surgery?  If his arm was bad why did the mastermind Canada make him the Commander of Combat Catches in traffic?   It doesn’t explain his poor route running and separation; but is some slack in order for the guy?
Gerry Dulac
2:33
No. Lot of guys play with injuries that require surgery after the season. He probably won't be the only one.

Are the steelers in rebuild mode? The GM is leaving after the draft, franchise QB retired, lots of holes on both sides of the ball
Gerry Dulac
2:33
C'mon, you know they don't use that word. Even though they are.

Everyone has focused on the coordinators, but any rumblings of staff changes with positional coaches?
Gerry Dulac
2:33
Nope. And that won't change anything.

Gerry, since Payton resigned NO, would you consider going after Jameis Winston in FA if he is DF'd?
Gerry Dulac
2:34
Too many acronyms there

Good afternoon, from a cost perspective, which would be the most expensive option, on average? FA to fullfill OL need or FA to fill DL need?
Gerry Dulac
2:35
Depends. A left tackle requires more money than any position on the defensive line. A guard does not. Plus, they need young talent on the D-Line. Two of my first three picks would be D-linemen

2:35
Gerry, you have always said C, G, OT, or DT should be their top priority this draft, does C and G being a weak draft give Lindenbaum or Kenyon Green the tiebreaker?  Thanks
Gerry Dulac
2:37
No, what I said was D-line and O-line should be top priority in the draft. What I said was sign a C in free agency and draft a T/G on the second round; and draft a D-lineman on the first and third rounds.

Hi Gerry, thanks for the chats. Do you think the fan base has reason to be confident that the current leadership in the organization knows what is necessary to return to greatness? It's been a long time since the team was this up in the air and DMR is no longer here to guide.
Gerry Dulac
2:40
That's a good question and I'm not sure. If they do, they have been taking their good ol' time trying to accomplish that. This is the most unchartered territory they will have navigated in 18 years (since ben was drafted);  and they have issues on both lines of scrimmage and with their coordinators. And maybe their GM.

I saw that Dunbar and Olsavsky were the only assistants that have been with team more than 3 years. Why is everyone acting like this staff does not have influences from outside the team?
Gerry Dulac
2:41
It's not that they don't have outside influences. It's whether those outside influences have any positive effect. I think we see the answer.

I know it's not the Steelers way, but do you see them being more aggressive in free agency this year than they usually are? I know Fitzpatrick is due a new deal Watt's deal starts. But they've never had this much cap space. It would seem to me if they could sign three quality free agents and have a solid draft they could be pretty good. Maybe not challenge for the Super Bowl but certainly a legitimate playoff team.
Gerry Dulac
2:45
I do, and they have to. They have to make a big splash on the O-line and bring JuJu back for starters. But, let's not forget, they have made the postseason three of the past 5 years. Do you know how many teams would kill to have that kind of success??
Coach noll
2:45
Gerry, I’m not a Tomlin hater. I think he’s an above average coach. That’s said, teams haven’t been prepared for game day for years, poor hires at coda toe positions, no playoff wins…. I just think his window has closed. At what point do the Rooneys move on and start over?
Gerry Dulac
2:47
He's more than an above average coach. Do you know how hard it is to not have a losing season every year you've been in the league. No other coach has ever done that -- that's how hard it is. But, when a franchise's stated goal every year is to win the Super Bowl, not getting past the first round in seven years might mean it's time for a change.

Do you think the Steelers would ever be interested in brining former GM Doug Whaley back to their front office?
