Even if Coach Canada has a full off season to install his ideas, can we expect Ben to truly embrace the changes, and stop the "playground, backyard football"?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
Canada will work with Ben as much as Ben works with Canada.

What are your thoughts on Canada as the new OC?
Gerry Dulac
11:31
I have no problem with some young, new ideas.

I know you've been a proponent of the "Big Ben gives the Steelers the best chance to win now" school, and I have agreed with you for the most part; however, my opinion has dramatically changed this year. Do you still think that Ben is the best bet for the Steelers next year? If so, would you mind elaborating?
Gerry Dulac
11:32
What did you see this season to dissuade you he is not the best bet??
Utah Jim
11:32
If Ben announced his retirement already would Canada still be the choice for OC?
Gerry Dulac
11:33
I don't know that answer. Maybe not. But that would be unfair to Canada to suggest that. That being said. I don't think the Steelers wanted to implement a whole new system with new terminology if Ben is the QB

Hi Gerry.  Don't you love the fans that want a complete rebuild but will then complain when they are 4-12 and getting pasted by Baltimore, Cleveland and Cincinnati?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
I don't have enough money to keep paying these people!!

Outside of politicians is anyone better than NFL coaches at using a lot of words and never saying anything?
Gerry Dulac

True

Morning Gerry, With the signing of Haskins, I realize he is low risk, inexpensive, etc. BUT ....he needs a strong organization to allow himself to grow up.   Tomlin chooses not to really mentor these young kids; Antonio Brown and Lev Bell always acted like Jackasses, JuJu acts like a fool, and even Chase Claypool is showing a bit of tendency to not have the professionalism this team needs.  Do you think The Steelers organization can get Haskins to be a decent NFL QB ?
Gerry Dulac
11:34
Nope.

I wasn't sure how to type in my chart of last 11 rushing attacks, hopefully it came through on your end. I hope you post it because I think it is valid and I think many Steelers fans need to understand that it is hard to get the best QB in the universe and Ben can still excel with a good team around him. Just because he is not longer superman doesn't mean he isn't very good
Gerry Dulac

I appreciate your research. Very telling

Gerry.  Since Arians "retired" He has won coach of the year with the Colts, Cards and now has Bucs in the SB.  Did the Steelers "retire" the wrong coach?
Gerry Dulac

You answered your own question!

Good morning Gerry.  Does the team employ its own Sports Psychologist?  I’m looking to switch careers (out of health care) and would love to get connected with someone in the Steelers’ employ
Gerry Dulac
11:36
I don't know that answer, but if they do he is not listed on their directory

I agree that the Steelers culture has been permissive.  Look at what Brown was allowed to get away with.

Hi Gerry, After the playoff loss Cam Heyward commented that the team wasn’t prepared. What was he referring to? Was it a jab at coaching? Cam and other prominent names sat out the week prior so they should have been prepared? Thanks
Gerry Dulac
11:39
I think his comment, and sure hope his comment, was directed as players who aren't prepared to play, especially mentally. Believe me, the coaches prepare them, it's up to them to perform. But that's why I have said there is a problem that needs to be identified. And if it can be identified, how do you go about fixing it?

Ger,  Chuks- LT, Dotson-LG, FA/Rookie-C, DeCastro-RG and Banner-RT.  I’d take my chances with that.
Gerry Dulac
11:39
Pretty good guess. But I wouldn't forget Feiler at RT

Hey Gerry, when you start looking at the money we'd save if Ben retired or cut($19 million?) how many of our free agents could we keep? Dupree? Hilton? Sutton? Juju? Al? Just to keep ben 1 more year and lose a bunch of FA's especially with the Brutal schedule we will have next year. I can see both sides but do you think the Steelers are considering it might be better long term without Ben this year?
Gerry Dulac
11:41
They will not keep Villanueva, Dupree will sign elsewhere, and likely JuJu will too. Keeping Hilton at more than $3.5 million makes no sense because the coaches know he is a liability in coverage. Of the group you mentioned, it might just be that the only player you will see back is Sutton

Is there anything to the report that Watt left without exit interview?
Gerry Dulac

There was nothing new to begin with

It seems to me that the only place to look for a reliable mock draft for the Steelers is here or other local writers.  The national media either don't know enough about the Steelers or worse yet, instead of trying to project who the Steelers will actually take, the writer mocks who he thinks the Steelers should take.  Am I wrong?
Gerry Dulac
11:42
You are not only not wrong, you are correct

Read your article Friday regarding problems facing Steelers.  You hit the nail on the head.  To borrow your own phrase...PAY THE MAN!!
Gerry Dulac
11:43
Now there's a smart man!

11:43
Who is your super bowl pick and who is the MVP other than either QB?
Gerry Dulac
11:44
I'd like to see Brady and Arians win. And, if TB wins, TB will be MVP. Heyyyyy, they have the same initials.

11:44
Don't you think Steelers fans expectations of Rudolph are too high for a 3rd round pick who's made as few starts as he has?
Gerry Dulac
11:46
High expectations? Don't you mean low expectations? Or criticisms? That's all anyone outside the organization thinks of Rudolph. And it's unjustified. Yeah, he's not Ben or Aaron Rodgers or Mahomes. But give him a chance.

Gerry, do you think that there will be an above-average number of top-tier FAs this year struggling to find a landing spot based on reduced cap numbers? Might that mean higher likelihood of keeping some of our own, otherwise tough re-signing prospects?
