Well, I just accidentally deleted a question from Rodney who asked, among other things, when will the Steelers hold Mike Tomlin accountable for the lack of playoff wins. And my answer is, apparently, we will have to wait even longer.

Do you think these months of fans questioning whether the Steelers first pick is an OL, CB, ILB or NG will matter one whit to what the Steelers actually do?
Gerry Dulac
10:31
Nope. Not at all. And, if the first pick happens to be in one of those areas, it's not because the fans or the media think that's what should happen.

Gerry, is it now time for the NFL to start getting rid of the Pro Bowl? It had its moments, it was fun back in the day when it was in Hawaii and the players were able to use it as an end of season reward for themselves and kick back and relax. It's now a joke, especially with Tyler Huntley being selected.
Gerry Dulac
10:35
I get they don't want to get rid of the Pro Bowl recognition. It's been around for years. Players have bonuses in their contract based on Pro Bowl selection. I get the game itself had turned into a joke, but this is an even bigger joke. This has all evolved because the players don't want to risk an injury playing in a meaningless game. It's all too bad.

Do you believe Eli Ricks will be on the Steelers radar?
Gerry Dulac
10:37
I'm sure he will be.

When a team comes off a Super Bowl win  the coach/owner will say “last season means nothing it’s a new year”. When a team finishes strong with no playoffs they’ll say “we can carry this over to next season”. Is there evidence one way or the other that a strong finish leads to an improvement the following season?
Gerry Dulac
10:38
Hahaha. Best question of the day. The only evidence is it's just a bunch of horse dung.

If the top 3 OT aren't available when the Steelers draft, could DL be the first pick?  Or is it the same situation where the top 3 DL's are the only DL's with first round grades?  CB seems to be a trendy pick, but they have to add youth and depth at DL, and the teams that have gone deep in the playoffs this year have had very disruptive DL's.
Gerry Dulac
10:39
Of course it could. It's time to find another dominant stud -- a Cam Heyward, even a Stephon Tuitt -- on the D-line.

While I know the team needs to consider every option, but it makes no sense to trade any of the first three picks.  The expectation of any first or second round pick is they will be starters day one, or some time during their rookie season.  And if lucky, one or more will be of Pro Bowl  or all pro caliber (think TJ and Fitz).   And if we can pick up a starter at OL, DL and CB, why would any of the fans want them to make a trade?
Gerry Dulac
10:40
I do not anticipate that happening at all.

Gerry, Who should the Steelers try to emulate more in the near future.. Eagles, Chiefs, Bengals or 49ers?
Gerry Dulac

1976 Steelers

10:40
Hi Gerry, will the Steelers look to the draft or free agency to improve ILB?
Gerry Dulac
10:42
Probably the draft to find more young depth, but I think the plan is to see how ready Mark Robinson is for 2023

Gerry! Steeler nation seems to almost universally hate announcer Chris Collinsworth because he’s not a shill for the black and gold. I think he’s one of the best color guys currently working. What’s your opinion of Chris?
Gerry Dulac
10:43
I agree. He is well-researched and is the fastest with the telestrator of any analyst on TV. He's telling you what happened seconds after the play

ive seen some Steelers fans thinking we shouldve fired Tomlin and hired Sean Payton. I really dont get that, they have had really similar careers, both with 1 Super bowl win and Tomlin with 2 appearances. What are your thoughts on this?
Gerry Dulac
10:43
I agree with you

Do you think Khan and Weidl will be more inclined to trade back if the board falls that way than Colbert was?
Gerry Dulac
10:45
Kevin Colbert made several bold moves as GM, trading way up and trading down. I don't think it's fair to see these guys will be any different because Colbert wasn't averse to doing either.

If your charge of the draft and all players rated equal do you prefer CB OL or DL?
Gerry Dulac
10:46
I might be inclined to go CB, but I wouldn't balk at LT.
Hoops McCann
10:47
Ger, Would you swap the 32nd pick for Deandre Hopkins?
Gerry Dulac
10:47
No because I think they have their go-to guy in George Pickens, who has many of the same attributes

There's been a lot of talk about the need for tackles over guards, which I understand, but I keep thinking about the way that guard for N.E. (I think Cole Strange?) handled Heyward in their game this year. If you could get the best guard or center in the draft or the fourth best left tackle, would you be tempted to go guard/center?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
I'm not sure who said the NE guard handled Cam Heyward because that person doesn't know what they're watching or what they're saying.

Gerry, will you write a story about TB12’s retirement or is that more an AP thing?
Gerry Dulac
10:48
That's an AP thing.

With the glaring need and depth of the position at CB in the draft. Any chance the Steelers double dip like they did WR last year?
Gerry Dulac
10:49
Wouldn't shock me at all, but I expect that more of the lines of scrimmage than I do CB.

How much do you think the Patriots benefited from videotaping our defensive signals in ‘01 and ‘04? I felt like we were the better team in ‘01 and at least evenly matched in ‘04
Gerry Dulac
10:49
None. Overrated

Does drafting Joey Portor Jr really help the Steelers beat the chiefs??
Gerry Dulac
10:50
Ask that after they draft him. Or if they draft him.

Can you explain your reasoning that you subsist taking a QB was the wrong choice over taking the 3/4th best OL or the 3/4th best DL last year when all 4 are positions of need and QB is the most important position in all of sports?
Gerry Dulac
10:51
I've stated it many times. No need to state it again.

Hi Gerry. Andy W's background appears to be focused in the trenches. The Eagles are obviously have the blueprint for building inside out. I did notice however that there is a mixture of draft picks (not necessarily high picks) and free agents on the defensive line and I believe one maybe two 1st rounders on the offensive line. Can (or should) the Steelers follow that model or do you believe the Steelers should focus on building the lines with high draft picks?
