I'm sure that's part of it. And that's probably why if he will get only a one-year deal somewhere in free agency -- to prove he is recovered, or can.

Gerry love your stuff! I predicted you'd be sensational.  You and I must be related, you have certainly made a prediction for what on defense in the first round?  Ohhh wait you have been saying that for as long as I have been alive.
Gerry Dulac

You're only 2???

Since not many changes are happening with assistants. Reverse Q - In your opinion who is the most respected and least likely to be replaced?
Gerry Dulac
12:00
I think it's safe to assume both coordinators will not be replaced

After coming up short (according to reports) on a handful of WR targets this year and seeing how that impacted the offense, do you expect the team to be willing to spend a little more money or offer up more in a trade than usual to fix the WR room? Going into another season saying "Well, we JUST missed out on our trade & FA targets cause the asking price was too high" and watching the same offense again this year would be difficult.
Gerry Dulac
12:01
I do!

More likely, In your opinion - Who would have had a better season, Najee with passing game and better OL play or Minkah with better DL play?

Anything new on the Harris front? Do they let him walk or pay him for 3 years for 8 mil per?
Gerry Dulac

Nothing now. Soon tho

The question of the day, I'm sure. Do the Steelers go with Wilson or Fields? Also, there is no way the Steelers sign Rodgers, correct?
Gerry Dulac
12:02
If you mean repeated question of the day -- more likely, week or month -- yes it is

Gerry, I had hopes that there would be a few changes this off-season.  Nothing big, at least not for any other team, but still changes.   Sadly, two of those are off the board.  I'm still holding out hope, though.  Hope that we add a challenge/replay "coach" in the booth that can buzz down and let Mike know when to throw the red flag, and hope that we trade GP for a day 2 pick.  Do you think I should just resign myself to misery until the draft, or should I hang in there a bit longer?
Gerry Dulac
12:03
There will be no coach hired specifically for replay. Although when I heard Mike Tomlin call senior offensive assistant Mike Sullivan his "yards after catch coach," anything is possible

Whats the chance James Daniel’s returns? Was he around much after the injury
Gerry Dulac
12:03
None. and no

12:04
Hi Gerry, what’s your gut feeling about who will be under center for the Steelers?  Thanks.
Gerry Dulac
12:04
Depends who you talk to. Here's my gut feeling: I just know how it can work internally there sometimes

12:04
Gerry, when do you think a decision will be made on the Steelers’ qb situation?
Gerry Dulac

For fans, Mike Tomlin seems to only speaks in cliche's. Even on Hard Knock he mostly spoke "coach speak". Fans don't get to see him as a real, genuine person. Is he always this way? Does the press ever see the personal side of him or is he always guarded with his persona?
Gerry Dulac
12:05
Occasionally at training camp. And only some of us
Brian
12:06
If you were able to put a percentage on it, what is the split in the building between the Wilson camp and the Fields camp?  (yes I know only Tomlin's vote matters since ARII will rubber stamp whatever decision he makes)
Gerry Dulac
12:07
I would say it's 66-33, but I will tell you that what you suggested has even worse odds of that being true

12:07
Is there a Steeler that you felt had a real chance to be good but injury cut his career short who is not Gabe Rivera, Ryan Shazier or Sean Spence? I thought of Elnardo Webster.
Gerry Dulac
12:09
The first two you suggested were in a category by themselves -- Rivera and Shazier. Spence woulda been good, but not like the others
Question from Tampa Too12:08Gerry  I think Tomlin is a good coach (certainly not perfect)  I do think that many criticisms of him are indeed justified.  The one criticism of him that I think is a bit unfair is that the Steelers only went to two Superbowls with Big Ben as a franchise Qb.  If you look at Big Bens contemporaries at the time (other than Tom Brady) the rest of the league did not really do better.  Aaron Rodgers  (One)   Drew Brees  (One)  Eli Manning  (Two)   Philip Rivers (None)    I quess what I'm trying to say is that it takes more than a Hall of Fame or Franchise Qb to get to the Superbowl.  And Rodgers and Brees did not have to contend with Brady for most of their careers.
12:10
Ben went to 3 SBs, though I assume you meant two under Tomlin. But I will remind you Mike Tomlin went to two in three years with most of Bill Cowher's coaches. Do not underestimate that

When representing a player for possible HOF induction. Is someone pushing for a member of each franchise initially each year or at what point do you / does someone have to represent their franchise’s player(s) - Final 15 etc ?
Gerry Dulac
12:11
It's usually the final 15, tho email and messaging campaigning can begin at any time.

Hello Mr. Dulac, I saw you wrote that there is a divide between the Steelers Org. in terms of who should be QB1 next year Russ or Fields. I admit no bias because I think that the team is nowhere near a QB away from being a contender. But if I may ask how long does this play out for? will they gauge the trade market and/or FA or will they get this done before the league year starts assuming their contracts expire at the end of the league year?
Gerry Dulac
12:13
It won't play out long. I don't know that I characterized it as a divide as though it is a chasm that can't be crossed. I'm just saying there is support internally for both sides.

Which free agent positions do you believe the steelers will attack? Defensive line, corner, wide receiver, all of these and in which order?  thanks for your response.
Gerry Dulac

WR tops

Given the relatively minor changes to the coaching staff, one must assume the Steelers believe the issue is substandard player talent.  So are we going to see a major roster overhaul, or do they really think they're just a piece or two away from the SB?
Gerry Dulac
12:14
Maybe that is what they assume. That doesn't mean it's the right assumption. Maybe that's the problem.

Will T.J. give the Steelers a hometown discount on a contract extension this year?
Gerry Dulac

No such thing
